Description

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) runs jails and court units in all five boroughs and employs more than 7,500 staff.

The analyst writes summary reports, helps prepare monthly reports, and gathers, sorts, analyzes, interprets and presents data. Other typical duties are listed below, and the list is not exhaustive.

  • Reconcile the Foreign Born New Admission (FORNA) and Immigration reports every day.
  • Check detainee status and discharge details in the Inmate Information System (IIS).

  • Assemble reports for the ICE Unit, the Legal Division and other designated agencies, including the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, when required.
  • Handle emergency tasks quickly and accurately.

Requirements

  • Qualifying experience can come from one area or a mix of these: budget work at a large public or private organization, such as budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel and labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning or administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning or evaluation, or fiscal management; or a closely related area.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, public health, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science or urban studies, or a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, plus one year of full-time professional experience in the qualifying areas.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college plus three years of full-time professional experience in the qualifying areas.
  • An associate degree, or 60 semester credits from an accredited college, plus five years of full-time professional experience in the qualifying areas.
  • A four-year high school diploma or state-approved equivalent, or one recognized by an accrediting organization, plus seven years of full-time professional experience in the qualifying areas.
