Description

The company provides payments, data and financial products in one solution to large merchants such as Meta, Uber, H&M and Microsoft.

Payments and money movement are at the centre of the work. The role makes sure customers can always see where their money went.

You will build the datasets and experiences that global merchants, regulators and the company Finance use to trust the numbers. Each one gets fully explained financial data they can check and audit.

You will define what a payment, fee, payout or correction looks like to a customer, and what reconciliation experiences and reports show. The role closes the gap between the internal ledger and a single, customer-facing view of money movement. The aim is an automated, self-serve and trustworthy experience.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the SVP of Engineering and work with peers in Payments, Financial Products, Platform, Compliance and Finance.
  • Define the customer's view of money movement for merchants, regulators and the company Finance, so data follows the merchant's entities and periods, not internal system structures.
  • Deliver that data consistently through datasets, reports, files and dashboards, using the same standards for every team that publishes through the platform.
  • Build and manage a high-performing engineering organisation, balancing scalability with complex, cross-team technical projects.
  • Hire, develop and grow strong people with the skills the team needs, and build a top-tier team.
  • Foster continuous innovation and set an exemplary engineering culture.
  • Run key projects to time: track progress, remove blockers, and help with planning and priorities.
  • Put merchant and business needs ahead of personal ambition, and set priorities with that in mind.
  • Favour simplicity, standards and reuse.
  • Stay technical enough to judge designs yourself.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues inside and outside the company.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in engineering, including 5+ years leading teams and time managing managers.
  • Experience hiring and managing a large engineering organisation, ideally 25 to 50 engineers, including managers of managers.
  • Strong grasp of financial data: ledgers, cut-offs, corrections and restatements, FX and fee attribution. Payments experience is not required, but you have worked where a figure was a real obligation, not just a metric.
  • Clear written and verbal communication. You can explain complex technical ideas simply and tell a compelling story to technical and non-technical audiences, including merchants, vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Able to streamline engineering operations, refine requirements with product and merchants, and encourage teamwork.
  • Have delivered through a platform you did not control, and got what you needed without a lever to pull.
  • Keep things simple, handle uncertainty well and get things done.
  • Interested in the problems the largest merchants face and motivated by solving problems that help all merchants.
  • Comfortable that the scope of the role is still being defined, and willing to help define it rather than wait.
