Description

The company is a financial platform for small businesses, not only a credit card provider. It offers a business credit card, an SME spend management platform, a savings product that reached £1 billion in funds within its first year, and a growing set of tools for running a small business.

The company was founded because banks were slow, their products did not suit small firms, and owners often could not get what they needed. It has 1,000+ employees, £20bn in annual card spend, 200,000+ customers and is profitable. Its 17,000+ Trustpilot reviews average 4.7 stars.

The team values pushing ideas quickly, testing them and scaling what works, never settling for good enough. Speed and simplicity are seen as an edge. People help each other from day one and do the right thing even when it is hard. Owners deliver agreed dates without needing to be chased. Feedback is regular, direct and constructive.

Interview process: a 30min video call with a Talent Partner, then a 45min video call walking through an AI transformation, then a 2 hours on-site session covering a case study and meetings with the CTO and CEO, the latter two only if you pass the case study.

The team aims to reply within 3 working days, or up to 5 working days during busy periods.

Responsibilities

  • Within 12 months the company wants to triple its capacity to build strong products and become AI-first. The CEO backs this as a company priority, and you will lead it for Product and Engineering.
  • You will own how the company uses AI to design, build, test and ship software, set AI strategy across both teams, and lead a small, elite AI Enablement group.
  • You will report to the CTO and work closely with the CEO, partnering with each product team to change how it works, not just which tools it uses.
  • In your first 30 days, measure current speed and quality, then build a 12-month plan to triple them, with clear measures the leadership team tracks.
  • Redesign the software delivery lifecycle around agentic AI, covering spec, code, review, testing and release, and make it the standard in every product team.
  • Decide on AI developer tooling, model access, the AI gateway and evaluation, weighing capability, cost and vendor independence.
  • Work with InfoSec, Data Protection, Risk and Compliance to set guardrails that let teams move quickly inside an FCA-regulated business.
  • Lead the AI Enablement team in changing how the company builds software.
  • At 12 months: customer value per quarter is roughly three times the baseline you set; AI-native ways of working are standard in every product and engineering team; guardrails are robust, auditable and trusted by risk and compliance; and a team and playbook keep improving without you.

Requirements

  • You have led an AI-driven change in how a product and engineering organisation builds software, with measurable results.
  • You have hands-on experience with agentic coding tools and LLM-based workflows. You still build platforms and systems and have clear views on where these tools work and where they fall short.
  • You have built and led high-performing engineering teams on strong technical foundations.
  • Bonus: experience introducing agentic AI into infrastructure, observability and data pipelines.
  • Bonus: C/.NET and Azure experience, which is a big plus.
  • You think in cost, ROI and customer outcomes, and have worked in a regulated environment designing controls that enable rather than block.

Conditions

28 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Benefits

  • Salary sacrifice scheme for electric vehicles through Octopus.
  • Annual learning and wellbeing budget.
  • Enhanced parental leave.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • Season ticket loan.
  • 6 free therapy sessions per year.
  • Dog friendly offices.
  • Free drinks and snacks in the offices.
