Flutter Engineer - Platform

Description

The company is a financial platform for small businesses, offering a business credit card, an SME spend management platform, a savings product that reached £1 billion in funds in its first year, and a growing set of tools and financial products for running a small business.

The company has over 1,000 employees, around £20bn in annual card spend and more than 200,000 customers, and it is profitable.

The role is hybrid, with 2 days per week in the London offices.

You would join a platform team that builds the shared foundations used by every web and mobile app: the design system and shared UI packages, the app shell, and core flows such as sign-in, settings and protected actions. Product teams build features on top of this work, so the team sets patterns, proves them and helps other teams adopt them.

The current focus is the Customer Portal, the signed-in experience customers use daily. The team works closely with Design, talks to Product early and partners with the Engineering Architecture Team. It also runs a monthly department-wide demo.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Flutter features, widgets and shared packages with support from senior engineers.
• Work with Design to put the design system into the iOS and Android apps.
• Write unit, widget and visual regression tests for your work, paying attention to accessibility.
• Learn the App Store and Google Play release process and help ship releases.
• Take on bugs and production issues, and learn how the apps behave on real devices.
• Join refinement and planning, and contribute technical input on the work you pick up.
• Use AI tools in your daily work and share what works with the team.

Requirements

• Some hands-on Flutter experience.
• Solid engineering fundamentals from your current role, in any stack.
• A real interest in mobile development and in building apps people enjoy.
• Good testing habits, or a willingness to develop them.
• Experience working in an Agile team.
• Curiosity and comfort asking questions while learning something new.
• A proactive, supportive and collaborative approach to work.

• Stack: Flutter, Dart, Kotlin, Swift, Riverpod, GoRouter, CodeMagic.
