Description

The company is a technology enterprise founded in Germany in 1846. It operates in the optics and optoelectronics industries across 50 countries and is wholly owned by a foundation.

The Lens Care product line sits within Global Consumer Eyecare, a Birmingham-based unit of the group that serves the global consumer eyecare market.

This is a Global Product Manager role for Lens Care, based in Birmingham, UK.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision and plan for Lens Care products in every region, from concept through launch and ongoing improvement.
  • Set priorities for features and initiatives using market insight, customer needs and business targets.
  • Lead the roadmap for Lens Care, covering new launches, line extensions and phase-outs.
  • Collect consumer and customer needs, clinical and claims evidence, and market data, then turn them into product requirements and specifications.
  • Lead cross-functional development with R&D, regulatory and quality, manufacturing, sourcing and marketing.
  • Build business cases, pricing and profitability analyses, and go-to-market plans for new and updated products.
  • Track sales, margin, usage and consumer reviews, and drive improvements where performance falls short.
  • Make sure specifications, labelling and packaging meet internal standards and support product claims, working with the Global Head of Technical.
  • Prepare go-to-market readiness, including product briefs, presentations, technical documents, CMC inputs and cross-functional sign-offs, coordinating with the Global Head of Technical as needed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • At least 2 years of product management experience, ideally in FMCG, OTC or wider consumer goods.
  • A solid business sense and a record of launching and growing consumer product ranges.
  • Experience with NPD processes and agile product development.
  • Strong leadership across functions, plus clear communication and presentation skills.
  • The ability to analyse data, draw out insights and make trade-off decisions.
  • Fluent English.
  • A customer-first mindset and a collaborative, results-focused way of working.
  • The ability to travel globally, about 10% of the time, including to the USA, Asia and Europe.
  • It would be desirable if you had:
  • Experience working across several markets or in a global region.
  • Experience using stage-gate frameworks.

Conditions

Based in Birmingham, UK, on a hybrid basis: 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Travel of roughly 10% of your time, across the USA, Asia and Europe.

Benefits

  • Work for a global leader in optics and innovation.
  • Join a collaborative, international team.
  • Access to professional development and continuous learning.
  • Exposure to global procurement processes and cross-functional work.
  • Career development within an international organisation.
