Description

This senior principal platform engineering role is based in Raritan, New Jersey. You will be the global technical lead for the Customer Experience Management (CXM) platform, covering Sales, CPQ (configure, price, quote) and PR&O (Professional Relations and Operations).

The company is linking sales, marketing, CPQ, PR&O, customer service and service and repair into one connected, AI-enabled customer engagement system, built mainly on Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft cloud services.

You will be the senior technical partner to product and business leaders. You will turn product strategy into a buildable platform design and make sure each release strengthens one lasting global platform rather than creating standalone solutions.

Success means a sequenced target architecture that guides investment, product pods using common standards and reusable capabilities, fewer duplicate or one-off regional builds, measurable gains in reliability, security, release quality and delivery speed, AI capabilities running as secure production services, and routine technical decisions made without escalation to product leadership.

Function: Technology Product and Platform Management. Sub-function: Functional Engineering. Category: Scientific/Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the target architecture and multi-year technical roadmap for the CXM platform, owning Sales, CPQ and PR&O directly.
  • Set platform boundaries, extension patterns, data flows, integration contracts, identity and access patterns and non-functional requirements.
  • Make architecture choices that meet global scale, security, privacy, regulatory, reliability, performance and maintainability needs while allowing controlled regional variation.
  • Weigh technical trade-offs between near-term release needs and the long-term health of the platform.
  • Lead development of reusable APIs, services, integration patterns, frameworks, SDKs, components and developer tools for the CXM product pods.
  • Set governed patterns for Dynamics configuration, customization, integration, data access, testing, release management and environment management.
  • Build and maintain a catalog of approved platform services, reusable business capabilities, technical patterns and implementation guidance.
  • Raise developer productivity and delivery quality through automation, standardization, observability and current engineering practice.
  • Define the technical approach for putting AI and agent capabilities into priority Sales, CPQ and PR&O workflows.
  • Lead reusable patterns for agent orchestration, tool calling, skills, context management, RAG, human oversight, evaluation and lifecycle management.
  • Work with enterprise AI platform teams on governed execution, security controls, observability, discoverability and production operations.
  • Advance interoperability, including Model Context Protocol and agent-to-agent integration, where it is approved, appropriate and valuable.
  • Own CXM engineering standards and technical guardrails, aligned with enterprise architecture, cloud, cyber security, privacy, data and AI policies.
  • Direct technical work and quality across internal engineers, product pods, contractors, systems integrators and strategic technology partners.
  • Run architecture reviews, resolve cross-team dependencies and step in early when delivery choices create platform risk or duplication.
  • Coach engineers and technical leads, and build a culture of accountability, reuse, documentation and continuous improvement.
  • Explain architecture decisions, risks, trade-offs and investment needs to product, business, technology and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale digital products, platforms or distributed systems.
  • 7+ years as a lead architect, principal engineer, platform engineer or engineering leader accountable for architecture and technical strategy.
  • Track record leading a large platform modernization or transformation across several teams, products, regions or business units.
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 architecture, extensibility, integration, data models, security, release management and platform operations.
  • Experience with Azure services and integrations across Microsoft 365, including Teams, Outlook, Copilot and Copilot Studio.
  • Proven record designing reusable APIs, services, frameworks, SDKs, engineering patterns or internal developer capabilities, not only standalone applications.
  • Working hands-on knowledge of modern engineering tools and practices: Git, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containers, Kubernetes, automated testing and platform observability.
  • Experience designing or building production AI solutions with LLM integration, agent orchestration, RAG, tool calling, context engineering, evaluation, observability, security and governance.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated, security-conscious or otherwise complex enterprise environment.
  • Solid understanding of commercial processes such as sales, pricing, quoting, contracting, customer engagement or professional relations.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence across product, engineering, enterprise architecture, security, vendors and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to employees, contractors, delivery partners or federated engineering teams.
  • Preferred: experience in MedTech, pharmaceuticals, healthcare or another regulated industry.
  • Preferred: experience integrating Microsoft business platforms with enterprise services across Azure and AWS, including API, event-driven, data, identity, security and observability services.
  • Preferred: experience building enterprise agent platforms, internal developer platforms, reusable SDKs, framework libraries or shared engineering services.
  • Preferred: experience designing global platforms that allow controlled local or regional variation.
  • Preferred: experience managing systems integrators and strategic technology partners in complex delivery environments.
  • Preferred: experience leading engineering capability building or organizational transformation.
  • Preferred: for internal candidates, working knowledge of XENA engineering standards, accelerators, AI-enabled SDLC practices, enterprise architecture standards, deployment frameworks and CI/CD governance. External candidates should show experience adopting comparable enterprise engineering frameworks and the ability to learn the company's standards quickly.
  • Preferred skills: architecture leadership, AI engineering, API and integration architecture, CI/CD, cloud platforms, commercial process design, developer experience, enterprise architecture, full-stack engineering, infrastructure as code, mentorship, Microsoft Dynamics 365, platform engineering, platform observability, product and engineering partnership, security by design, technical communication, vendor and partner leadership.
  • Also preferred: capacity leveling, collaboration, consulting, contingency planning, controls compliance, human-computer interaction, IT service continuity management, management systems implementation, mentorship, performance measurement, software development management, tactical planning, technical credibility, technical development, technical writing and being technologically savvy.
  • Technologies may include Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure, Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, Copilot and Copilot Studio; API management, event-driven integration, identity and access management, secrets management, cloud security, data services and observability across Azure and AWS; Git, Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, infrastructure as code, automated testing and code-quality tools; LLM integrations, agent orchestration, RAG, skills and tool-calling frameworks, context engineering, AI evaluation and observability, MCP and agent-to-agent patterns.
