Over 8,000 retailers and 1M brands work with the company to reach its creator network. The company is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and operates on five continents.
This Staff Engineer role strengthens technical leadership on the Brand team. Staff Engineers there lead architecture, technical direction and delivery for strategic, complex and business-critical work, and you will partner with product, design, data and platform teams on high-impact problems so the platform stays reliable as business needs change.
You will bring clarity to unclear initiatives, set lasting patterns that several teams can follow, and keep the Brand platform healthy. The role extends technical leadership coverage in Brand so the company can deliver reliable, scalable experiences for its brands and creators.
Responsibilities
Lead architecture and technical strategy for complex work that spans several product and platform teams.
Provide technical leadership across the Brand platform, taking on strategic, complex and business-critical initiatives wherever they appear.
Break down critical projects and lead them from discovery through delivery.
Work with product, design, data and platform teams so technical choices serve customer, platform health and business goals.
Define scalable patterns, APIs and system boundaries that let teams move fast while making systems more reliable and easier to maintain.
Find technical risks, dependencies and sources of operational complexity early, before they slow delivery.
Raise the engineering standard through design reviews, code reviews, coaching and mentoring of engineers and emerging technical leaders.
Keep platform health strong by improving observability, quality practices, operational readiness and cross-team execution.
Turn vague business needs into clear technical direction, practical milestones and lasting solutions.
Lead the move to AI-native engineering on the Brand platform, using coding agents and AI-assisted tools across investigation, design, implementation, testing, code review, documentation and incident response.
Set up conditions for good agent-assisted delivery by improving repository context, technical specifications, development environments, CI pipelines, test strategies and feedback loops.
Oversee several streams of agent-assisted work where useful, breaking complex initiatives into well-defined tasks, critically reviewing output and staying accountable for everything shipped to production.
Build practical ways to evaluate and validate AI-assisted workflows, including automated checks, targeted human review, security controls, observability and production feedback.
Use AI and automation to cut engineering toil, improve developer experience, raise test coverage and move faster from an unclear problem to a reliable customer result.
Share what works through architecture guidance, reusable patterns, documentation, mentoring and hands-on coaching so AI-native practice spreads beyond a few experts.
Requirements
At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including substantial experience leading the design and delivery of complex distributed systems.
A proven record working as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer or similar senior technical leader across several teams or domains.
Strong systems design skills and the ability to make practical tradeoffs between performance, reliability, security, scalability and developer experience.
Experience leading high-impact work that needs coordination across engineering, product, design, data and platform partners.
A record of turning unclear product and business problems into clear technical strategies and plans you can execute.
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders without formal authority.
A coaching approach and proven ability to mentor engineers and build technical leadership across teams.
A commitment to engineering excellence, including quality, operational ownership, observability and continuous improvement.
Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools or coding agents in real engineering work, with the judgment to know when to trust, constrain, test or reject their output.
Experience shaping development processes that help engineers and AI agents work well together, such as clear technical context, specifications, automated tests, CI feedback, evaluation harnesses or repeatable development environments.
A record of raising engineering leverage through automation, developer tooling, platform capabilities or workflow redesign, not just adopting tools on their own.
A clear understanding of the risks of AI-assisted delivery, including incorrect or insecure output, dependency and data exposure, weak test coverage, nondeterministic behavior and unclear ownership.
Comfort measuring whether new practices improve cycle time, quality, reliability, maintainability, developer experience or customer impact.
A drive to seize opportunities and act with urgency.
Commitment to tough prioritization and operational excellence.
Ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
A growth mindset and openness to feedback.
