Description

The company has been advancing science for 80+ years and supplies analytical solutions, consumables and OneSource services to commercial, government, academic and healthcare customers, backed by a global service network and distribution centers.

You will be the Operations Product Leader for the Gas Chromatography (GC) business and report directly to the VP of Product.

The GC business is about to change significantly. You will take ownership of operations across the full GC portfolio and help set and carry out a clear plan to grow market share and lead the industry in instruments, consumables and services.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the GC SKU catalogue current by adding new configurations, managing change notices, and retiring discontinued products with Operations and Supply Chain.
  • Prepare the operational analysis behind the Strategic PM's recommendations to the VP on introducing, sustaining, or ending products.
  • Lead end-of-life work for discontinued products, including inventory run-down, customer notices, and field messaging.
  • Keep specifications, compatibility matrices, and regional configuration guides accurate as sustaining changes are made.
  • Maintain the product line price book, including system price updates, price exception tracking, and periodic price review data for the Strategic PM's approval.
  • For periodic list price reviews, gather competitor pricing, prepare margin analysis, and make system updates after changes are approved.
  • Process special pricing requests within delegated limits, and send requests above the threshold to the Strategic PM with supporting data.
  • Act as the first point of triage for field quality and supply chain escalations: collect information, route to Quality, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain, and track each issue to closure.
  • Maintain a live escalation tracker and give regular status updates to the Strategic PM and VP Product Line.
  • Work with Operations and Supply Chain on parts, lead times, and backlog, and explain timeline impacts to commercial stakeholders.
  • Answer sales questions on configuration, compatibility, and orders that need product management input.
  • Update competitive comparisons, product FAQs, and technical specification sheets as product and competitor information changes.
  • Track order intake, backlog, inventory, and field feedback for the product line, and report on them to the Strategic PM regularly.
  • For new product launches, complete readiness tasks: SAP setup, price book entry, configuration guides, and publishing resources to the sales team.

Requirements

  • 2, 7 years of experience in product management, technical marketing, product operations, or a closely related commercial or operational role in scientific instruments, analytical instruments, or laboratory equipment.
  • Understanding of product lifecycle concepts such as SKU management, pricing administration, and product change management.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle several operational workstreams and still deliver accurately and follow through.
  • Experience working across Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and commercial teams in a matrixed organisation.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems for product data, pricing, and order management. SAP is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred: a scientific or technical degree with hands-on laboratory experience, giving you a grounding in product specifications and customer applications.
  • Preferred: experience supporting a product launch in product management or technical marketing, including launch readiness and go-to-market work.
  • Preferred: familiarity with the analytical instrument categories relevant to the GC product line.
