Description

The role sits inside the team as an embedded technical lead for domain groups, turning hard problems into working data and AI tools.

You will prototype quickly, refine with users, and take solutions to production on the platform, linking end users, product owners and platform engineers to get measurable results.

The work mixes software, data engineering and product thinking, and cares most about whether people adopt the workflow and whether it keeps running.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside domain teams to learn their workflows, set success criteria, and turn their needs into delivered features.
  • Run discovery, frame solutions, and lead delivery from first prototype through to production.
  • Build pipelines, transformations, ontology mapping, and application workflows on the platform.
  • Set up and tune platform-based applications so they support operational decisions and repeatable analysis.
  • Use the platform's standard patterns for permissions, audit trails, performance, and releases.
  • Ingest and model varied datasets so analysts and applications can rely on them; define quality checks and document assumptions and limits.
  • Build user-facing applications or workflow screens, connect them to upstream and downstream systems, and support deployment, monitoring, and improvements.
  • Coordinate scope, timing, and standards with product managers, data scientists, data engineers, governance, and platform teams; explain trade-offs and clear blockers through technical and stakeholder work.
  • Create reusable templates, components, and patterns to speed up future work across the team, mentor colleagues, and write documentation, playbooks, and delivery standards.

Requirements

  • You hold a bachelor's degree in biology, bioengineering, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or a related field.
  • You have 8+ years working in biomedical research, bioengineering, bioinformatics, or a related area.
  • You have hands-on experience building and operating solutions on the platform, including pipelines, ontology, applications, and access controls, and you work engineering-first within it. This is essential.
  • You have worked well with stakeholders to understand problems and define solutions, and you have built and delivered proofs of concept that show business value.
  • You have shipped software, data, or analytics products in a fast-moving, user-facing setting and can prototype rapidly and take work to production.
  • You program well and are comfortable across both the data and application layers.
  • You understand users deeply, can work directly with them, clarify vague requirements, and deliver in iterations.
  • You communicate and manage stakeholders well, and you are reliable and disciplined about operations.
  • Desirable: experience delivering in regulated or sensitive-data settings with strong attention to access control and audit needs.
  • Desirable: familiarity with product discovery methods such as problem framing, value definition, and iterative MVP delivery.
  • Desirable: experience enabling analytics, AI, or machine learning inside production applications.
  • Skills listed in the posting (some marked inactive): Artificial Intelligence (AI), Biostatistics, Business Value Creation, Change Management, Curious Mindset, Data Governance, Data Literacy, Data Quality, Data Science, Data Visualization, Deep Learning, Graph Algorithms, Learning Agility, Machine Learning (ML), Machine Learning Algorithms, Nlp (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) And Genai (Inactive), Organization Awareness (Inactive), Pandas (Python) (Inactive), Python (Programming Language), R Programming, Stakeholder Engagement, Statistical Analysis, Structured Query Language (SQL), Time Series Analysis.
