Description

The company provides edge-to-cloud products that help customers connect, protect, analyze and act on their data and applications, from edge to cloud.

The team is looking for a senior firmware architect to set architectural direction for Gen13 servers, working across the stack.

You will settle complex system-level firmware trade-offs early in the design phase, with a focus on scalability, performance and keeping the code maintainable over the long term.

The role combines hands-on design and debugging of software, including operating systems and related tooling, with influence on hardware compatibility and hardware design.

The work carries visible technical impact on a product or major subcomponent and is expected to improve time-to-market, cut costs or meet current and future customer needs.

The role is a recognized technical authority in its area and includes leading significant projects, taking part in cross-functional efforts and supporting knowledge sharing across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define architectures and methods for software design and development that span several platforms and groups in the Global Business Unit.
  • Assess new technologies, innovations and outsourced development partners against the technology roadmap and business value, and plan how to bring them into the architecture.
  • Review designs and project work against development guidelines and standards, and give concrete feedback to raise product quality and reduce failure risk.
  • Use your domain expertise, business judgement and experience to shape decisions made by senior business leaders, outsourced partners and industry standards bodies.
  • Guide and mentor less experienced engineers, setting the standard for design quality and innovation.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems or an equivalent field.
  • Typically 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience designing and building software design tools and languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience designing the overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
  • Experience designing and integrating software that runs on several platform types into a single architecture.
  • Experience choosing test methods and processes, including writing and running test plans, debugging, and building test scripts and tools.
  • A record of innovation, with multiple patents or solutions deployed in the field of software design.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication, with mastery of English and the local language.
  • Ability to explain product architectures and design proposals, and to negotiate options with business unit and executive leaders.
  • In-depth knowledge of Redfish standards.
  • A proven track record of scaling firmware across multiple management processors on scalable systems.
  • A strong commitment to test-driven development.
  • A proven record of using AI in development and test cycles.
  • In-depth knowledge of OpenBMC and the Yocto environment.
  • Experience with a secure software development lifecycle.
