Description

The company builds autonomous defence platforms and AI-driven software for NATO Allies and their partners, designed to work in demanding environments.

The Data Operations team handles the full data lifecycle behind the company's AI stack, from collection and acquisition through generation, curation and management.

The team runs its own data-collection campaigns across Europe, evaluates new sensors and platforms, and builds the internal data platform that turns raw recordings into datasets ready for use.

The data feeds directly into the perception and autonomy systems on the company's platforms. The team is growing, so the scope and impact are real and the work is not tied to legacy systems.

This role is the technical owner of the multi-sensor recording systems, linking raw hardware to the datasets the ML teams train on. It sits between hardware and software: integrating cameras, lidar, radar and IMUs over their real interfaces, adapting drivers and ROS2 nodes, achieving microsecond-level time sync, and calibrating rigs so all streams share one spatial and temporal frame. You will also join data-collection campaigns across Europe, running your systems in real conditions and making sure the recordings are worth training on.

Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of sensor suites, including EO/IR cameras, gimbals, lidar, radar, IMU and GNSS, from electrical wiring and interfaces through to working recording pipelines.
  • Write sensor drivers and ROS2 nodes that talk to hardware over I2C, SPI, CAN, Serial, MIPI/CSI-2, GigE Vision and Ethernet (RTSP/UDP).
  • Align timing across distributed sensors using PTP, PPS and hardware triggering so streams fuse and label cleanly.
  • Design and run rigorous intrinsic and extrinsic calibration, including camera-to-camera and camera-to-IMU.
  • Build and tune the onboard recording stack on NVIDIA Jetson, covering hardware-accelerated GStreamer video, efficient MCAP/rosbag logging and storage throughput within compute, thermal and bandwidth limits.
  • Test new sensors on the bench, from probing electrical interfaces with diagnostic tools to benchmarking SDKs, and turn the results into clear integration decisions.
  • Join field campaigns across Europe: prepare and check sensor setups, run the recording systems on site, fix hardware and software faults as they occur, and validate recordings before leaving.
  • Write integration documentation and calibration reports so the team can reproduce every setup.

Requirements

  • A degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++ for robotics and hardware interfacing.
  • Experience with ROS2, including running it on physical systems.
  • Hands-on work with several hardware protocols such as I2C, SPI, CAN, Serial or Ethernet-based sensor communication.
  • Experience integrating cameras or other sensors on embedded Linux, ideally on NVIDIA Jetson.
  • Solid computer vision fundamentals: camera models, distortion, projection geometry and OpenCV.
  • Good grasp of coordinate frames, transforms and time synchronization in distributed systems. Practical calibration experience is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable with diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, and with Git, CI and Docker.
  • Practical and structured, able to travel regularly for field campaigns and to work outdoors in varied conditions.
  • Nice to have: UAV or mobile robot experience, with PX4/ArduPilot and MAVLink basics.
  • Nice to have: photogrammetry and 3D reconstruction.
  • Nice to have: low-level driver development or customization on embedded Linux.
  • Nice to have: GStreamer hardware-accelerated pipelines, JetPack/L4T, and CUDA/TensorRT.
  • Nice to have: MIPI/CSI-2 camera bring-up, ISP tuning, or Linux kernel and device tree work.
  • Nice to have: calibration tools such as Kalibr, and lidar and point cloud processing with PCL or Open3D.
  • Nice to have: detection and tracking models and modern CV pipelines using PyTorch and ONNX.
  • Nice to have: simulation with Gazebo or Isaac Sim, or synthetic data generation.
  • Send your CV in English if you want to help build European defence capability with the company.
  • You must be eligible to obtain and keep the security clearance this role requires. Details follow during recruitment.

Conditions

Due to the defence sector, candidates must be eligible for the security clearance this role needs, and must keep it. Details are shared during recruitment.

Benefits

  • Your work protects personnel and supports European and national sovereignty.
  • You will work alongside leading experts in autonomous systems, advanced propulsion and secure cyber platforms.
  • The environment is fast-moving and collaborative, with strong R&D support behind new ideas.
