Description

The company builds robots for factories and warehouses, where almost nine in ten American sites have no robots at all. Cassie moves boxes, pallets and bulk goods for family-owned manufacturers and some of the largest brands in the world. Sonny works with two arms to pick and pack with near-human dexterity. Each robot learns on the job, and every deployment makes the next one more capable, cheaper and quicker to start.

The company was founded at MIT and is based in Watertown, MA. It handles robotics hardware, machine learning, and field deployment and service in-house. The team of over 160 includes researchers, engineers, technicians, operators and sellers.

Work you do here reaches real production floors, where it changes how physical work gets done.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead the investigation and fix of the hardest technical problems across the robot fleet, based in Watertown, MA, reporting to the Head of Robot Operations and Reliability.
  • You will spend 50 to 75% of your time traveling to customer sites.
  • As the fleet grows across North American warehouses and factories, some faults become harder to isolate: intermittent ones, faults that appear at only one site, and faults that show up only after weeks of running. You will own these cases from the first report to a verified fix. That means reviewing logs, telemetry and parts history, probing the robot with a multimeter or oscilloscope to test theories, running root cause analysis, and building an action plan with the engineering owner of the affected hardware.
  • You will propose fixes and agree them with the engineering owner, rank open escalations by root-cause priority, and track each fix through Engineering and Manufacturing so it reaches robots in the field and is built into unshipped units. You will sit in the design review for every fix you drove. You will confirm results against fleet data and close a failure mode only once repeat failures stop.
  • You will lead the first installation of each new robot model, design or application, run large upgrade campaigns, and take major customer escalations on a shared national rotation. Every job ends with a written procedure and a regional technician trained to repeat the work.

Requirements

  • 1 to 7 years in field engineering, controls, automation, test or hardware engineering, or senior field service on robotic or industrial automation systems.
  • A proven track record of solving complex failures, with clear records of the root cause, the fix and the measured result.
  • Methodical troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, networking and software systems.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, the command line and system logs.
  • Experience using scripts or AI tools to analyze data, run checks and prepare reports.
  • Experience leading root-cause investigations with engineering teams and driving corrective actions to completion.
  • Experience training technicians and writing clear procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with technicians, engineers, customers and leadership.
  • Comfortable working in warehouse and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to travel 50 to 75% of the time, sometimes on short notice.
  • Nice to have: a degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics or a related engineering field.
  • Nice to have: experience with robot arms, vision systems, lidar or mobile robots.
  • Nice to have: experience with failure analysis or reliability methods such as FMEA, Weibull analysis or teardown analysis.
  • Nice to have: experience commissioning or installing new automated systems.
  • Nice to have: background in fulfillment, logistics, manufacturing or food and beverage operations.

Conditions

The base salary range is $90,000 to $150,000, depending on experience.

The company plans to expand benefits as it grows and keeps investing in support for its team at work and outside it.

The company is an equal opportunity employer.
