Description

The team in Donauwörth is hiring a Cyber Security Systems Architect as soon as possible to steer current and future projects.

The role sits in the avionics systems group of the design office, which designs avionics architectures for civil and military helicopters.

Helicopters must handle security risk and its effect on flight safety and the mission, so the avionics architecture needs protection and detection against possible cyber attacks.

You will define and build the cyber security part of that architecture together with the helicopter's avionics architect.

Civil work aims at EASA certification of a new helicopter or approval of a change to an existing one. Military work aims at cyber security certification by the responsible authority.

The Donauwörth site lies on the Danube near Augsburg, where helicopters go from first idea to airworthy product, and the company flies from its own test airfield there.

Responsibilities

  • Formalise how the cyber security processes of engineering fit into the company's overall engineering process landscape, and keep them aligned with the support processes.
  • Assess security risks across the helicopter configuration and set the security requirements for the embedded system, covering both functional and assurance needs.
  • Track the development of security functions against their design assurance level.
  • Formalise the evidence of compliance with airworthiness requirements and support the helicopter's security accreditation.

Requirements

  • A completed Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or computer science, plus substantial experience and further training, or a doctorate following that degree.
  • Alternatively, a completed Master's degree in the same fields, plus extended experience and further training, or a doctorate following that degree.
  • At least 5 years in embedded systems or cyber security, including solid systems engineering experience.
  • German and English at negotiation level.
  • French, desirable.
  • Working knowledge of aeronautical standards such as ARP 4754, ARP 4761, ED-202 and ED-203.
  • Skill in specifying and implementing security mechanisms: authentication, access control, rights management, signatures, firewalls, encryption, segregation and intrusion detection.
  • Not a 100% match? Still apply; the company offers tailored development to support your growth.

Conditions

Permanent contract at professional experience level, based in Donauwörth.

Start as soon as possible.

Flexible working through flextime, mobile working, part-time options, job sharing and sabbatical.

All backgrounds are welcome, and the role calls for awareness of compliance risks and acting with integrity.

Benefits

  • 30 days of annual leave under the collective agreement, based on a 35-hour week.
  • Attractive pay plus individual extras such as company pension schemes, mobility options like bike leasing, and employee discounts at partner companies under current guidelines.
  • Strong training options and international career paths across the group.
  • On-site company doctor, health programmes including sports courses and prevention offers, canteen and cafeteria, and childcare at some locations.
  • Work alongside colleagues from more than 140 nationalities.
