You would join the Industrial Remediation Practices group to help design and run remediation systems and to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects.

You bring prior experience designing remediation systems and overseeing operations, maintenance and monitoring, along with skill in data management and technical reports.

The role needs strong technical and interpersonal skills across disciplines. You will work alone at times and with engineers and scientists on many different remediation projects. Clear verbal and written communication is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage environmental field work, covering remediation system operation, maintenance and monitoring, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging and subcontractor oversight.
  • Deliver engineering and design work for remediation jobs at private industrial sites and for municipal clients.
  • Develop, coordinate and supervise pre-design investigations in the field.
  • Serve as technical advisor to the team when needed, and give specialized input on studies and designs in your area of expertise.
  • Analyze data and prepare or review engineering reports, plans, calculations, drawings, figures and specifications using accepted practice.
  • Write study and design procedures so others can produce high-quality work at a reasonable cost.
  • Take part in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Estimate construction costs and the technical effort needed for projects.
  • Work through every step of your discipline's portion of plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) packages.
  • Perform quality control checks on design calculations and drawings.
  • Draft technical specification sections.
  • Contribute to engineering budgets and schedules so requirements are met.
  • Write reports for clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Apply construction quality assurance and quality control principles and methods.
  • Support project managers with budgeting, scheduling, scope development and cost tracking.
  • Help business development with pre-proposal meetings, site visits, proposal writing and reviews.
  • Carry out the project deliverable requirements of the company's Quality Management System.
  • Build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field and 6+ years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education.
  • A valid driver's license and a passing Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check under company policy.
  • US citizenship or permanent residency is required. No sponsorship will be offered now or in the future.
  • Flexibility across many diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Desired: experience with water collection, conveyance and treatment system engineering, including stormwater, sediment and erosion control engineering and permitting.
  • Desired: experience designing remedial technology for water and wastewater, and providing engineering and design support for remediation projects.
  • Desired: PFAS experience across the project life cycle, including investigation, treatment and remedial design (RSSCTs, technology feasibility, pilot studies), remedial implementation (construction support, permitting) and operations (treatment performance, maintenance, O&M plans).
  • Desired: modeling and analysis of remediation performance and subsurface conditions.
  • Desired: knowledge of construction quality assurance and quality control, and of project budgeting and cost tracking.
  • Preferred: FE or EIT, which is required.
  • Preferred: direct PFAS experience.
  • Preferred: master's or PhD in civil or environmental engineering.
  • Preferred: 10+ years in environmental consulting and remediation system design.
  • Preferred: 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Preferred: proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Preferred: excellent oral and written communication skills.
