Description

The company is a global infrastructure firm working in water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings, with $16.1 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025, over 50,000 staff and Fortune 500 status.

The Industrial Remediation Practices group is hiring an experienced environmental engineer to support remediation system design and operations, soil and groundwater investigations, and remediation projects.

You will work on a range of remediation projects, on your own and alongside engineers and scientists, so strong technical, interpersonal and spoken and written communication skills matter most.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and design support for private industrial and municipal remediation projects.
  • Develop and coordinate pre-design investigations and oversee the field work in person.
  • Plan and manage field work for remediation systems, including operations, maintenance, monitoring, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging and subcontractor oversight.
  • Act as technical advisor for the team and give specialist input on studies and designs in your area of expertise.
  • Analyse data, and prepare and review engineering reports, plans, calculations, drawings, figures and specifications using accepted practice.
  • Write study and design procedures that help others produce high-quality, cost-effective work.
  • Take part in interdisciplinary reviews of deliverables and quality control checks of design calculations and drawings.
  • Prepare construction cost and technical effort estimates, and contribute to engineering budgets and schedules.
  • Work through your discipline's part of plans, specifications and estimates packages, and write technical specification sections.
  • Support project managers with budgeting, scheduling, scope development and cost tracking.
  • Write reports for clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Model remediation performance and subsurface conditions.
  • Mentor junior staff, stay flexible across varied projects and keep health and safety a priority.
  • Support business development through pre-proposal meetings, site visits, and proposal writing and review.
  • Build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues, and apply the company's quality management system to deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field and 6+ years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Required experience in remediation system design and in managing or overseeing operations, maintenance and monitoring.
  • Required experience in data management and technical report production.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check under company policy.
  • Required: strong multi-discipline technical and interpersonal skills, and strong verbal and written communication.
  • Because of the nature of the role, US citizenship or permanent residency is required, and sponsorship will not be available now or in future.
  • Preferred: FE or EIT is required.
  • Preferred: direct PFAS experience.
  • Preferred: master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering.
  • Preferred: 10+ years in environmental consulting and remediation system design.
  • Preferred: 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Preferred: proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Preferred: excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred: excellent attention to health and safety.
  • Preferred: PE designation in any US state.
  • Desired: experience in water collection, conveyance and treatment system engineering, and remedial technology design for water and wastewater.
  • Desired: stormwater engineering, sediment and erosion control engineering, and permitting.
  • Desired: PFAS experience across investigation (studies, media sampling, drinking water and water quality evaluation, groundwater monitoring), treatment and design (Rapid Small-Scale Column Tests, treatment feasibility, pilot studies, supporting remedial designs), implementation (construction support, permitting, design clarifications), and operations (treatment performance evaluation, routine and non-routine maintenance, operation and maintenance plans).
  • Desired: construction quality assurance and quality control principles and practices.
