Description

The company needs an engineer with active TS/SCI clearance for its Enterprise Product Support team, which supports the Air Force DCGS in Hampton, VA.

You would give systems engineering support across the team to solve problems, make work more efficient, build collaboration, and keep engineering practice sound.

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess technical documents such as architectures, capacity metrics, design descriptions, flow diagrams, requirements, security assessments, SWDDs, and solutions, and give engineering feedback.
  • Build and use tools and processes that gather, link, and evaluate capacity data for CPUs, memory, storage, and bandwidth, so you can analyze high-level integration issues and judge the technical effect of new and current requirements.
  • Study VM metrics and work with VM owners to size each machine with the right number of vCPUs and amount of memory.
  • Provide capacity metrics at different levels of detail to guide decisions on provisioning virtual machines, memory, and storage.
  • Gain privileged user access and work with modern tools across virtual systems, edge nodes, private clouds, and enterprise environments to sustain AF DCGS and meet changing needs.
  • Write or change custom queries in existing tools to find metrics from devices, both with and without agents.
  • Create, update, and maintain capacity data in sustainment engineering documents, and help produce the monthly capacity report.
  • Carry out Integrated Sustainment Planning directives, finding and fixing gaps across the deployment, operations and support, and decommissioning phases of the weapon system life cycle.
  • Develop and put in place ways to get the most from the AF DCGS asset management tool for baseline configuration management.
  • Improve existing tools and processes across systems and teams to raise efficiency and quality, and keep looking ahead.
  • Update the Interface Control Document (ICDT) and the SWDD when new capabilities are integrated for sustainment.
  • Support configuration management for the CAB/CCB process and its entry criteria, helping work move through change control quickly while following the Configuration Management Plan.
  • Explain complex engineering material at every level, from senior leadership overviews to the detail developers and design engineers need.

Requirements

  • Required: Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Required: Work on-site at Langley AFB, VA.
  • Required: A bachelor's degree in computer or electrical engineering, or an associate's degree in either field.
  • Required: CompTIA Security Plus Certification.
  • Required: At least 6 years of systems engineering experience.
  • Required: At least 2 years of hands-on work with systems built from virtual components, on-premises or in external cloud.
  • Required: Working knowledge of virtual infrastructure, including compute and storage, virtual machines (VMs), and basic networking.
  • Required: Strong math skills, including algebra and unit conversion, to understand and work with the metrics collected.
  • Required: Experience with Excel, including formatting, formulas, subtotals, and graphs.
  • Desired: Basic understanding of databases, programming, scripting, SQL queries, and Excel macros.
  • Desired: Experience with Cloud, Elastic, Eracent, AROps, and VMWare virtual infrastructures.
  • Desired: Specific knowledge of the AF DCGS life cycle.
