Description

The role suits someone who ties an enterprise's technology landscape to its business goals. You will work with customer leadership and technical teams to learn where the business is heading, review the current landscape, and define a coherent target architecture and roadmap that guides technology choices toward business results.

The job rewards synthesis and sound judgment more than depth in one tool. You need working knowledge across cloud, containers, operating systems, platform components, and AI, and the skill to see how these parts form one system for the enterprise. You will weigh cost, risk, operational fit, and time to value, then explain those choices to executives and engineers alike.

The core requirement is thinking about business and technology alignment as a whole, while reasoning credibly across the technical areas listed below.

The company builds Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure. Its customers include Fortune 500 and Global 2000 organizations, and it focuses on open source, open standards, and avoiding lock-in. It is a young company with a fast-moving team.

Responsibilities

  • Work with enterprise customers to understand their strategy, business drivers, and constraints, and turn these into technology direction.
  • Review current technology landscapes and design target architectures that serve business goals, not just improve single components.
  • Build transformation roadmaps that sequence work to balance business value, risk, cost, and what operations can realistically absorb.
  • Set architecture principles, standards, and reference models so the enterprise has one consistent basis for decisions.
  • Compare cloud, container, infrastructure, and AI options, and recommend where each belongs in the wider landscape with clear, defensible reasons.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and translator between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
  • Present architectures, roadmaps, and reasoning to audiences from customer executives to hands-on engineers.
  • Visit customers on site across regions during discovery, design, and advisory work.

Requirements

  • Show that you think about the enterprise as a whole, linking technology decisions to business goals rather than focusing only on individual systems.
  • Have broad, credible knowledge of the following areas:
  • Private cloud platforms, including OpenStack. Experience with the company OpenStack for Kubernetes (MOSK) is preferred.
  • Kubernetes container platforms, including the company k0s and the company Kubernetes Engine (MKE).
  • Multi-cluster management tools, such as the company k0rdent.
  • Workload orchestration: how modern platforms schedule, route, and manage workloads across clusters and environments.
  • VMware estate modernization: enough knowledge of vSphere and VMware to advise on virtualization strategy and migration paths as enterprises move to open platforms.
  • Bare-metal provisioning and the lifecycle of physical infrastructure.
  • Automation with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management approaches.
  • The parts of a cloud or container platform and how they connect.
  • Enterprise AI infrastructure: how AI inference is deployed and governed, including model serving, inference stacks, and the related data, security, and governance concerns, enough to judge where it fits and its trade-offs. Deep machine learning expertise is not needed, since the focus is the infrastructure and governance layer rather than model development.
  • Communicate architecture and reasoning clearly to both business and technical audiences.
  • Be able and willing to travel, mainly within the EU and US.
  • Familiarity with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) as part of a wider architecture view.
  • Familiarity with Software-Defined Storage (SDS) as part of a wider architecture view.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks or methods, such as TOGAF or equivalent.
  • Exposure to hybrid or multi-cloud strategy and workload portability.
  • Additional European languages beyond required English.
  • Relevant industry certifications in cloud or containers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering, including customer-facing architecture or advisory work.

Conditions

The role is remote-first and part of a global, collaborative team.

Travel is mainly within the EU and US, and includes on-site customer visits.

The company may use automated decision-making technology for certain employment decisions. You may opt out of this for evaluation and review decisions on the role, and you may appeal any ADMT decision by written request to the contact the company provides.

Benefits

  • A customized workstation (macOS or Windows).
  • Professional development and training.
  • Conference attendance and working group participation.
  • Competitive pay and performance incentives.
  • Chances to advance, with high-impact enterprise accounts that offer immediate growth potential.
  • Work on open-source innovation at a young company that values openness, collaboration, calculated risk, and continuous growth.
  • A role in shaping the next phase of cloud and AI modernization.
