Description

The company helps growing businesses expand globally, with business accounts, hedging and financing on one platform with a smooth workflow.

Founded in 2009, it is a fast-growing fintech leader with more than 2000 staff across nearly 70 cities, and it keeps hiring.

You would help build and lead the teams behind the client lending application, focused on automated, multi-currency trade finance platforms that support global supply chains.

The hiring process has four stages: an intro chat (about 30 minutes), a hiring manager interview (about 30 minutes), a technical and systems design session with engineering leaders (about 60 minutes), and a final discussion with a hiring manager and product leader (about 60 minutes). Final interviews are usually done within a week and decisions within 48 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Hire for the team yourself, setting a high bar for candidates.
  • Coach engineers with specific feedback, clear growth paths and performance management.
  • Turn unclear business goals into clear roadmaps, plan the work, manage risk and deliver at a steady pace.
  • Guide architecture and design reviews for high-scale, event-driven transaction systems on AWS and BigQuery.
  • Work closely with Product and Design to shape client solutions and weigh strategic trade-offs.
  • Keep production stable, keep on-call loads reasonable, and maintain testing, CI/CD and strong observability.
  • Bring AI tools into development workflows safely and effectively, while staying fully responsible for the code you ship.
  • Stay hands-on with code early on, through pairing, reviews and shipping, and shift toward building people and systems as the team grows.
  • Own client outcomes end-to-end, covering the experience, APIs, data and iteration, and favour scalable platforms over one-off builds.
  • Retire technical debt and feature flags as seriously as you ship new features.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing and developing software engineering teams, with a record of mentoring people and holding high delivery standards.
  • Solid computer science foundations and hands-on experience building or running distributed systems at scale, including AWS, event-driven architecture and APIs.
  • Ability to define an interview bar, run rigorous hiring processes and attract strong engineers from scratch.
  • Hands-on use of AI coding tools, with clear views on how teams can use AI for productivity and product features.
  • A focus on client value and pragmatic scoping, with strong discipline around money-movement systems, including idempotency and reconciliation.
  • Fluent English and the ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly and align cross-functional teams.
  • Nice to have: fintech, payments or regulated domain experience, or exposure to web and mobile channels.

Conditions

Hybrid role based in the Madrid office: 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home.

You would join the Málaga engineering hub, helping set its culture, hiring bar and engineering standards from the start.

Equal opportunity: the company welcomes applicants of every background and treats everyone equally.

AI tools support the recruitment process only for administrative tasks, and humans make all hiring decisions.

Benefits

  • A competitive package with a strong base salary, a performance-based bonus and comprehensive benefits suited to a senior leadership role.
  • Clear leadership paths, senior mentorship and room to grow in both technical and organisational areas.
  • Real ownership from day one over your team, its culture and your product area in a newly opened engineering hub.
  • High-end MacBook Pro or equivalent Linux hardware.
  • An inclusive, high-performing environment that rewards technical excellence, good decisions and constructive challenge.
