Description

The real estate team is growing because client demand has risen, and it is recruiting engineering design managers at both experienced and earlier-career levels.

The company is a global professional services firm with more than 22,000 people in over 60 countries. It is majority-owned by CBRE Group, Inc. and delivers programme, project, cost, asset, commercial, procurement, net zero and digital services across real estate, infrastructure, energy and natural resources.

Projects cover rail, aviation, defence, real estate and highways, and clients are leading change in their industries.

Design managers are strategic thinkers, collaborators and problem solvers, not only technical leads. You will work closely with clients to make sure the final product fits its purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design input on multi-disciplinary projects from early concept through to delivery, keeping designs buildable, compliant, innovative and efficient.
  • Manage the contract with external design consultants alongside the project manager, checking that duties are met and taking action when they are not.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams of engineers from consultants and partner companies so solutions reach the required design level.
  • Evaluate designs and proposed solutions.
  • Work with technical, operational, maintenance and strategic stakeholders and design coordinators.
  • Liaise with clients, engineering managers, project managers, contractors and consultants on project issues, scope changes and risks.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of design and management experience.
  • Around 5 years managing design through the full project lifecycle, ideally across several sectors and procurement routes.
  • A solid grasp of integrated design delivery and of managing consultant performance.
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.
  • A degree, HNC or equivalent in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Practical knowledge of construction work types, methods and design solutions.
  • Working experience with CAD, such as AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Clear communication skills for liaising with both clients and staff.
  • Self-driven, results-focused and positive.
  • Skills in people management, time management and project design management.
  • A commitment to construction, customer satisfaction and high standards.
  • Preferable: experience in building fit-out, the defence industry and machine integration.

Conditions

A flexible working environment that respects work-life balance.

The company is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
