Description

The Non-Volatile NAND Design Engineering group designs and optimizes analog, digital, mixed-signal, and embedded control solutions for advanced NAND Flash memory products, working closely with cross-functional teams to make solutions scalable, manufacturable, and reliable across technology nodes.

The company makes DRAM, NAND, and NOR memory and storage products, and its work supports data center, AI, 5G, and mobile applications.

This role is a Senior Design Engineer position focused on NAND sequences and algorithms in the NVE Engineering group, based in Italy. You will help define, build, verify, and validate on silicon the embedded control sequences and algorithms that give NAND Flash its features.

You will be the technical owner of complex NAND algorithms and operation sequences. The job sits between architecture, logic, datapath, analog, test, and product engineering, turning device and system requirements into sturdy low-level code and supporting new product pathfinding, bring-up, validation, and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Own NAND sequences and algorithms from requirements and architecture through implementation, verification, release, and post-silicon validation.
  • Write efficient, reliable embedded code for NAND control, configuration, initialization, test, calibration, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Define and manage digital logic work covering registers, handshaking, interrupts, error reporting, telemetry, and recovery flows.
  • Build NAND command sequences and control algorithms that keep latency, memory footprint, power, and reliability in check while preserving backward compatibility.
  • Help with silicon bring-up, debugging, and root-cause analysis alongside the Logic, Test, Probe, Product Engineering, and Failure Analysis teams.
  • You may use AI-assisted tools and data-driven methods to raise your productivity, speed up problem solving, analyze algorithms, and sharpen technical decisions. This may involve:
  • Using AI-assisted tools for code generation, review, debugging, test development, and documentation.
  • Applying AI-based analysis to execution logs, validation results, telemetry, and silicon data.
  • Finding repetitive development, verification, reporting, and debug tasks that can be automated.
  • Assessing new AI capabilities to improve algorithm quality, development speed, and time to market.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to fold AI-driven workflows into sequence and algorithm development.

Requirements

  • A master's (M.S.) or doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience building digital solutions for hardware-controlled systems, SoCs, memories, or similar products.
  • A solid grasp of microcontroller architectures, memory-mapped registers, interrupts, state machines, and how hardware and firmware interact.
  • Experience with low-level debugging, unit and integration testing, version control, and scripting or automation in Python or a comparable language.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills, and the ability to work well in global, cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred: experience with NAND Flash, other non-volatile memories, storage controllers, or embedded memory systems, including sequence or algorithm development.
  • Preferred: familiarity with RTL simulation, FPGA or emulation platforms, silicon bring-up, and low-level communication protocols.

Conditions

The base salary range is 000,00 € to 57.000,00 € per year, set at B2 CCNL Level.

Pay depends on role, level, and location, and within the range it reflects work location, knowledge, skills, experience, tenure, and relevant education or training. The range may change with business needs, and your recruiter can give you the specific range for the role.

Pay decisions are based on objective criteria and do not depend on gender or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

Benefits

  • Eligibility for a variable plan tied to your personal objectives and the company's performance.
  • Benefits set at the company's discretion currently include meal vouchers, corporate welfare, a yearly allowance of remote working days, supplementary health insurance, life cover, and an Employee Assistance Program.
  • Current benefit details are listed on the EMEA benefits page of the careers site.
