Description

The company is an engineering firm with 3,000+ specialists across North America, part of a parent group of 57,000+ engineers in 30 countries.

Clients come from aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, commercial vehicles, EVs, rail and other sectors. The firm handles work from consulting through full project outsourcing.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of one or more parts of the vehicle access authentication path: transaction authorization, lock and unlock, start authorization, and/or remote functions, across Digital Key and Key Card.
  • Design and write embedded software for Vehicle Access systems on ECUs and real-time embedded platforms.
  • Build and maintain Digital Key features that follow Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) standards, along with Key Card authentication flows.
  • Develop vehicle access software that uses Bluetooth, Ultra-Wideband (UWB), NFC and RF communication.
  • Work with systems, hardware, validation, cybersecurity and mobile app teams to deliver complete vehicle access and vehicle function solutions.
  • Write and improve embedded C code, and use Python for automation, testing and validation.
  • Define the software architecture, interfaces and communication frameworks linking vehicle systems, Digital Key and Key Card credentials, and outside devices.
  • Help with integration, debugging and bring-up on prototype and production vehicles.
  • Find and fix complex software, connectivity and RF problems across vehicle and phone ecosystems.
  • Use AI coding tools, such as VS Code with GitHub Copilot or other approved assistants, for coding, review, debugging, documentation and test generation. Check every AI-suggested change against automotive safety, security and coding standards such as MISRA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional embedded software development experience.
  • Strong Embedded C skills.
  • Strong Python scripting and automation skills.
  • Hands-on work on complex embedded projects, such as Vehicle Access systems, Digital Key or Key Card technology.
  • Experience with complex industry standards, such as Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) standards.
  • Working knowledge of Bluetooth, UWB, NFC, RF and wireless connectivity architectures.
  • Experience building software for automotive ECUs and embedded real-time systems.
  • Proven ability to own a system from architecture through post-launch support with little supervision.
  • Practical use of modern AI coding tools, such as VS Code Copilot, Claude Code or similar, to speed up coding, debugging, and test or documentation work, with sound judgment about using AI output responsibly.
  • Preferred: automotive experience implementing CCC Digital Key vehicle access technology and/or Key Card authentication systems.
  • Preferred: experience with Body Control Modules (BCM) or Vehicle Access ECUs.
  • Preferred: knowledge of cybersecurity concepts for vehicle access, transaction authorization and secure authentication.
  • Preferred: familiarity with CAN, Automotive Ethernet, diagnostics and vehicle communication protocols.
  • Preferred: experience with vehicle integration, validation and launch activities.
  • Preferred: understanding of embedded Linux and RTOS-based systems.
  • Preferred: familiarity with ISO 26262, ASPICE, MISRA or automotive software development processes.
  • Preferred: experience setting up or contributing to team guidelines for safe, efficient use of AI coding assistants in safety-critical or regulated software.

Conditions

This is a Senior Software Engineer role with full functional ownership of the vehicle access authentication path and the vehicle functions built on it. Every customer access event runs through this software. You will guide the stack from architecture through vehicle bring-up and post-launch support, working with Bluetooth, UWB, NFC and RF connectivity.

Pay range: $150,000 - 170,000.

Actual pay depends on factors including location, the candidate's job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training and experience.
