Description

The company runs a mixed-cloud platform for its mobility products, across AWS, Azure and on-premises data centers. This is a hands-on individual contributor role centred on CI/CD and release engineering.

You will join a team of DevOps engineers, SREs and release engineers and work with software engineering, QE, architecture and information security. Hundreds of microservices ship several times a day through the pipelines you help run.

You will be assessed on deployment frequency, change failure rate, MTTR, platform availability and the security of the delivery pipeline.

In the first 90 days, get up to speed on the CI/CD platform, infrastructure and observability stack in all three environments, and independently own at least one pipeline or service area.

Within 6 months, show measurable gains in deployment frequency and change failure rate for the pipelines you own, and take an active part in on-call and incident response.

Within 9 months, become the go-to person for at least one platform domain (CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, observability or security), and mentor newer engineers on team standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and keep improving CI/CD pipelines for hundreds of microservices and applications, covering pipeline-as-code, build artifacts, container images and deployment automation in Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
  • Drive gains in DORA metrics: deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate and time to restore service.
  • Set up and run release patterns such as blue/green, canary and feature flags, along with rollback procedures and pre-production validation gates.
  • Work with QE to build unit, integration, contract, performance and security tests into pipelines so quality is enforced before production.
  • Build and run infrastructure across AWS, Azure and on-prem, including compute, networking, storage, identity and connectivity between environments (VPN, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, peering and transit).
  • Manage Kubernetes (EKS, AKS and on-prem clusters), container registries, service meshes, ingress controllers and supporting middleware.
  • Write and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code in Terraform and platform-native tools (CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep). Take part in drift detection, peer review and policy-as-code for all infrastructure changes.
  • Help with capacity planning, FinOps cost optimization and rightsizing across cloud and on-prem.
  • Build and maintain observability across metrics, logs, traces and synthetic monitoring. Help define SLOs, SLIs and error budgets for critical services.
  • Join on-call rotations, respond to production incidents, contribute to root-cause analysis and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Support chaos engineering, game days, disaster recovery and business continuity exercises that test hybrid resilience.
  • With Information Security, add SAST, DAST, SCA, secrets scanning, container image scanning and IaC policy scanning to every pipeline.
  • Manage secrets, certificates and identity across cloud and on-prem (AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault, IAM, RBAC).
  • Help keep SOC 2, PCI-DSS and other applicable frameworks audit-ready by producing evidence of pipeline controls, access management and change governance.
  • Work with software engineering so new services start with pipeline, observability and infrastructure templates rather than adding them later.
  • Work with architecture on platform direction and the technology roadmap, including migrations between legacy and modern platforms.
  • Write runbooks, pipeline standards and infrastructure patterns that the team can reuse.
  • Handle high-priority incident calls and emergency work outside standard hours when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years in DevOps, SRE, platform engineering or cloud infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience running production systems in at least one of AWS, Azure or on-prem data centers, with interest in building depth across a hybrid setup.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms, specifically Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions or comparable tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI), including writing and maintaining pipeline-as-code.
  • Working experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, with Terraform preferred; CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep, Ansible, Puppet or Chef are a plus.
  • Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes on EKS, AKS or self-managed) and container build and registry workflows (Docker, ACR, ECR, Harbor).
  • Skill in scripting and automation in one or more of Python, Bash, PowerShell, Go or TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Working knowledge of Git workflows, branching strategies and code review practices.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK or Azure Monitor / CloudWatch.
  • Willingness to join on-call rotations and respond to production incidents.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Preferred: experience in mobility, transportation, tolling, parking or other regulated, high-volume transaction-processing environments.
  • Preferred: exposure to compliance regimes such as SOC 2, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001 or FedRAMP.
  • Preferred: hands-on work with service mesh, API gateways or zero-trust networking patterns.
  • Preferred: experience with FinOps practices and cost tools such as CloudHealth, Apptio or native cost explorers.
  • Preferred: experience moving workloads between on-prem and cloud, or between cloud providers.
  • Preferred: certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer, Azure Administrator or DevOps Engineer Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or HashiCorp Terraform Associate.
  • Preferred: familiarity with data and AI/ML platform operations, such as model registries, feature stores and ML pipelines.

Conditions

Hybrid environment spanning AWS, Azure and on-premises data centers.

On-call rotations, plus emergency work outside standard hours as needed.
