DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities

• Run and refine deployment and release workflows across development, lab and production environments.
• Design, maintain and improve dependable infrastructure and delivery tooling.
• Manage Infrastructure as Code so it meets agreed standards and good practice.
• Modernise infrastructure with attention to performance, reliability and cost.
• Help development and support staff resolve severe production issues.
• Plan and coordinate product and operating system updates in each environment.
• Help teams adopt sound DevOps practices and working methods.
• Take part in planning, release management, documentation and ongoing improvement.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
• Practical use of AI-powered assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Cursor to improve productivity, quality or decisions in software delivery.
• Practical experience with Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Docker Swarm, preferably in on-premises environments.
• Good knowledge of core AWS services: EC2, CloudFormation, VPC, subnets, AMIs, ALBs, S3 and ECR.
• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure automation best practices.
• Experience working with cloud and on-premises air-gapped environments.
• A good understanding of JSON.
• Experience creating, maintaining and troubleshooting Azure Pipelines.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools, with an appreciation of ELK Stack and Grafana.
• Experience with firewall management, preferably FortiGate.
• Understanding of Agile development and comfort taking part in Agile ceremonies.
• A strong DevOps mindset and an understanding of why collaboration across development, support and infrastructure teams matters.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex technical issues independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort working where issues often need investigation, creativity and solutions beyond standard approaches.
• Good documentation skills and a commitment to keeping technical documentation accurate and up to date.
• Good English communication skills, at least B2 level.
