Description

The company is a technology unit within a global firm and works only for the US federal government, serving defense, national security, public safety, civilian, and military health clients. About 13,000+ people work there.

You would join an up-conversion team on a modernization program for a major aerospace and defense manufacturer.

The role is the final quality check on each converted model. Mechanical models are built in Creo and electrical or harness models in Zuken E3, and each is compared with its source drawing to confirm it is complete and semantically equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Run every model through the program's structured validation checks, covering model integrity, automated model-check results, tolerancing, notes and markings, annotations and their semantic references, section views, completeness, the 3D PDF, drawing linkage, and release readiness.
  • Check electrical models for connectors, connectivity and signals, splices and shields, device-tree structure, part-number attribution, and BOM match.
  • Overlay each model on its source 2D drawing or equivalent and confirm that dimensions, tolerances, and content agree.
  • Confirm that the CAD BOM matches the PLM EBOM, that revisions and attributes are correct, that the governing part-to-CAD link is right, and that visualizations and derivative files are current for release.
  • Write the validation and deviation report on the program's standard template, recording the build inputs, overlays, analyses, and each deviation with its corrective action.
  • Work with the client's design, manufacturing, and quality leads on report review, and confirm that every form, fit, or function deviation is closed.

Requirements

  • You have 5+ years in CAD quality, model checking, MBD validation, or design-quality engineering.
  • You have strong GD&T and model-based inspection skills against ASME Y14.5 and Y14.41.
  • You can read and validate Creo MBD models, Zuken E3 wiring and harness definitions, or both, against source drawings. Deep experience in one discipline with working knowledge of the other is acceptable, since cross-training is provided.
  • You understand PLM BOM structure, revisions, and configuration control, for example in Windchill.
  • You document carefully and work from checklists.
  • You are a U.S. citizen. U.S. citizenship is required.

Conditions

Bonus: CMM or metrology experience, including QIF-to-CMM inspection data.

Bonus: experience with tools such as Capvidia MBDConnect or semantic-reference checking.

Bonus: aerospace and defense quality, first-article inspection (FAI), or source-inspection work.

Bonus: drawing-to-model overlay validation or deviation-report writing.

Bonus: familiarity with DoD Technical Data Packages (TDP).
