Description

The company is building a large global digital sports platform spanning merchandise, trading cards and collectibles, and betting and gaming, serving a database of over 100 million sports fans and a partner network of about 900 sports properties.

Fanatics Collect sits inside the wider company, backed by a $31B parent that is the largest sports merchandiser in the world, with 900+ sports relationships and exclusive MLB, NFL, and NBA licensing.

The commerce engine has three connected marketplaces: Fanatics Live for live breaking, buy-now and auctions; the Fanatics Collect Marketplace, a secondary market and auction house; and TOPPS.com for primary e-commerce on new releases and drops.

The team is spread across time zones and countries and looks for intelligence, kindness, context over control, and hands-on ownership that handles ambiguity well.

The Marketplace covers fixed-price Buy Now listings and ongoing Weekly and Premier Auctions. The role owns the experience end to end, aiming to make it the most enjoyable, trusted, engaging and easiest place for collectors to find and buy the cards they want.

You will work closely with the Director of Product Design, Fanatics Collect E-commerce, and the design leads for Fanatics Live and TOPPS.com so the Marketplace reads as part of one Fanatics Collect experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design of the Buy Now, Weekly Auctions, and Premier Auctions experience in the Marketplace.
  • Make finding a specific card the easiest task on the site, with search, browsing, filtering and discovery that keep working as the catalogue grows.
  • Build trust through clear listings, provenance, and auction outcomes, matching the standard of a leading trading card auction house.
  • Make fixed-price buying and live or ongoing auctions feel like one coherent experience despite their different mechanics.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to lift usability, hierarchy, and interaction patterns.
  • Design bidding, buying, and selling moments that feel exciting rather than stressful.
  • Make pricing, fees, authentication, and order status clear at every step.
  • Use data and collector feedback to improve conversion, trust, and satisfaction.
  • Align with the Live and TOPPS.com design leads on shared search, navigation, and checkout patterns.
  • Work with Creative Studio so the Marketplace carries the trusted, auction-house brand voice.
  • Work with the Shared Experience team on the design system, search, and navigation the Marketplace relies on.
  • Hold a high craft bar for listings, cards, and transactions, and push quality from concept to shipped product alongside Engineering.
  • Mentor other designers and raise the craft standard across the team.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of product design experience, ideally in marketplace, e-commerce, or auction and commerce design.
  • Think in systems, designing for both quick fixed-price purchases and the anticipation of live auctions.
  • Move comfortably from user flows and information architecture to detailed UI and interaction design.
  • Use research and metrics to inform decisions rather than relying on instinct alone.
  • Communicate clearly and align Product, Engineering, Brand, and adjacent design leads.
  • Have a genuine appreciation for trading cards and collecting, or real enthusiasm to learn.
  • You do not need to meet every point above; the company wants candidates who bring their own perspective.
  • Fanatics never asks for payment from applicants. Confirm that recruiter contact comes from a Fanatics email address, including, and apply through the company careers site at where possible.
