Description

The company is an IT and management consulting firm based in the Washington, DC area, founded in 1996.

It delivers full-cycle IT consulting and management support to private and public sector clients.

This is a hands-on senior project manager role leading federal Appian case management modernization, covering delivery and contract execution.

You will own schedules, coordinate the technical team, handle Government stakeholder communication, contract reporting, financial controls, and Agile or SAFe delivery from planning through production support.

You are the primary Government point of contact for day-to-day contract management.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Appian delivery across several applications, from release planning and deployments through O&M coordination.
  • Facilitate biweekly sprints: planning, daily Scrum, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Present to the Change Control Board (CCB) and secure approvals within the Federal Agile framework.
  • Elicit requirements and lead business process discussions, so JIRA epics, stories, tasks, and acceptance criteria are ready for development.
  • Keep the integrated schedule, PM workbook, risk and issue registers, burn-up and burn-down charts, cost variance, burn-rate dashboards, personnel reports, and OCIO-approved PPM artifacts current.
  • Prepare monthly invoice details, hour breakdowns by individual and labor category, financial forecasts, and earned value and performance reports.
  • Work with the FPM, COR, Product Owners, OCIO, and other vendors to manage cross-vendor dependencies, risks, milestones, and executive status updates.
  • Make sure required Appian certifications and OCIO cybersecurity, privacy, and Section 508 training are complete, and that governance, release, and documentation controls are followed.
  • Lead transition-in and transition-out, plan Technical Exchange Meetings (TEM), and run structured knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • Required: at least five (5) years managing large-scale Appian projects in a federal environment using SAFe Agile.
  • Required: active PMP or PMI-ACP, plus Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification.
  • Required: hands-on skill with JIRA and Confluence, with solid Agile delivery, sprint metrics, and release management experience.
  • Required: experience managing federal contract deliverables, staffing, schedules, financial reporting, and Government stakeholder relationships.
  • Required: strong leadership, executive communication, risk management, and requirements facilitation skills.
  • Preferred: five to eight years of federal experience, including building or managing several large-scale Appian applications with 2,000+ users.
  • Preferred: experience with a Multi-Tenant Appian Platform or comparable federal Appian environment, including production deployment and O&M.
  • Preferred: knowledge of SDLCM stage gates, approved PPM tools, CCB governance, and multi-vendor IPT delivery.
  • Preferred: experience supporting FISMA-compliant solutions and Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility.

Conditions

The pay range for this position is $130,000-$150,000.

Final pay depends on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and competencies for the role, plus contract provisions on labor categories specific to the position.

The company is an equal opportunity employer that considers veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and disability coverage.
  • 401(k) where you are 100% vested from day one, with an employer match after 90 days.
  • Educational assistance program.
  • Student loan repayment program.
  • Gym reimbursement program.
  • Paid time off.
  • A multi-disciplinary team of creative people to work with, plus additional perks.
