Description

The company is a wealth manager and the team is building a global data platform, a data lakehouse, on a modern infrastructure. The role sits at the centre of the technical design of that platform.

The Data Platform Responsible (PR) provides end-to-end technical leadership and manages the full lifecycle of the platform, keeping it aligned with business needs, architecture standards and operational resilience. You work with Product Owners, the Platform Owner, System Architects and IT Service Owners, shaping technical decisions and design. The role mixes hands-on technical oversight with supplier management, risk assessment, quality assurance, agile delivery and incident support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design, development and operational performance of the platform across its full lifecycle, in line with corporate standards.
  • Shape the platform's technical roadmap, covering technology changes, modernisation and decommissioning, in step with business and architecture strategy.
  • Own and contribute to the Solution Design, Security Concept and Interface Agreements, and make sure they follow architecture standards together with the System Architect.
  • Plan and coordinate application releases under the Change and Release Management processes, and decide on production go-live jointly with the Product Owner, Platform Owner and ITSO.
  • Oversee infrastructure and data development, drive shift-left practices (automation, unit testing, CI/CD), and make sure functional and non-functional requirements are implemented robustly.
  • Provide 3rd level support, act as master data custodian in JBAR, and lead supplier management for third-party applications, including performance and delivery oversight.
  • Estimate the effort for changes, flag technical risks and mitigations, support budgeting, and confirm technical requirements are validated and tested before release.
  • Take ownership of the global data platform, which serves data to several analytics use cases, and keep the environment running and stable.
  • Help the System Architect raise and maintain technical debt items.
  • Support the Business Responsible and IT Product Owner in shaping and delivering the platform service.
  • Work with support teams in Asia to extend support hours.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience with data platforms, data lakes or lakehouses, including Kubernetes, Kafka and distributed storage such as S3 or HDFS. On-premises experience is preferred.
  • Several years in a similar role in the financial industry.
  • Experience setting the technical direction of data platforms and keeping up with new tools, formats and concepts.
  • Experience managing the full platform lifecycle, from concept and design through development, testing, deployment, operation and retirement, including master data, incident support and release coordination.
  • Hands-on skills in VM setup and scaling, Kubernetes pod and cluster scaling, Docker with Harbor, and pushing images through CI/CD with the development team.
  • A higher education degree in Computer Science, from a university, a university of applied sciences or an equivalent diploma.
  • Strong communication, planning and coordination skills.
  • Proactive, reliable and solution-driven, with a willingness to bring new ideas and drive change.
  • Good written and spoken English. German is a plus.
  • A strong team player with a customer-oriented focus on helping the organisation get solutions.
  • A solid understanding of data technology and how to run it operationally.
  • A high degree of self-motivation to drive initiatives and change.
