Description

The Trade Promotion & Analytics team is consolidating a varied enterprise data landscape into one unified data foundation, a business-critical effort.

The team is looking for a Databricks-focused data engineer in Warsaw to help shape a single relational and analytical data model that brings together data from several systems.

The work mixes building pipelines with acting as the technical authority for external vendor engineers, giving global teams quicker and more dependable insights.

The company operates in roughly 70 countries and runs a broad portfolio of consumer brands.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and release automated data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes on Azure and Databricks (about 40% of the role).
  • Write clean, maintainable, production-grade Python and PySpark for transformations, integrations, and aggregations.
  • Tune and optimise complex SQL so that queries and pipelines run quickly and efficiently.
  • Keep data quality, consistency, and reliability sound across every production data flow.
  • Help design and build a harmonised relational and analytical model that becomes the single source of truth for downstream analytics (about 30% of the role).
  • Study existing multi-source models and schemas to map data flows, entity relationships, constraints, and business logic.
  • Work with data analysts and business stakeholders to turn analytical needs into sturdy, scalable data structures.
  • Maintain modelling consistency, good practice, and thorough architecture documentation for data assets.
  • Serve as technical contact, subject matter expert, and quality gate for work delivered by external vendor engineers (about 30% of the role).
  • Run structured code reviews and approve pull requests against company coding, testing, and security standards.
  • Work with the Product Owner to track milestones, technical trade-offs, and early handling of technical debt.
  • Advocate strong engineering practice, CI/CD, and shared team standards.

Requirements

  • Experience running code reviews, setting best practice, and guiding junior colleagues or external vendor developers.
  • Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to project stakeholders.
  • Expert-level relational data modelling and data warehousing knowledge, including star and snowflake schemas and database design.
  • Expert SQL skills: complex queries, performance tuning, and advanced functions across different database systems.
  • Advanced Python for data manipulation, such as with Pandas, plus proven hands-on PySpark work in distributed computing.
  • Practical experience with the Azure data stack, such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, and Synapse Analytics, and with the Databricks platform.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with a record of breaking down complex business and data problems.

Conditions

Location: Warsaw, with a hybrid setup where you work from home two days a week and spend the rest in the office.
