Data Engineer – Data & AI

Description

You will join the IT team in a global, highly integrated setting, building data products, integration services and platforms for business analysts, data scientists and AI engineers.

The role connects business, data science and IT, turning complex enterprise data into trusted insight that supports better decisions across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and support modern data pipelines, covering ingestion, preparation, integration and production use.
• Develop efficient processes for data ingestion, preparation, integration and operation.
• Build ELT pipelines on analytics engineering platforms such as Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, DBT and Dagster.
• Create data solutions that are scalable, secure, reusable and easy to maintain, in line with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
• Help maintain data governance and compliance in the work you deliver.
• Apply AI in ways that serve business goals, meeting security, privacy, governance and responsible AI requirements.
• Work with AI engineers to design and move into production the data foundations for AI analytics, including high-quality data, features, embeddings, metadata and evaluation datasets.
• Work with data science, architecture, DevOps, MLOps and analytics engineering colleagues to improve data availability, reliability, accuracy and quality.
• Help teams across IT, data, sales, operations, marketing, finance and other functions align on governance frameworks and processes.
• Translate business requirements and use cases into data-driven solutions.
• Drive process improvements that raise efficiency and service delivery.
• Write clear documentation and presentations that help teams share knowledge and communicate.

Requirements

• University degree in IT or business administration, with a focus on computer science, data science or data engineering.
• Fluent English.
• German is beneficial.
• At least 3 years of experience with analytics tools such as Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Dagster or DBT.
• Experience with SQL and Python.
• Architectural understanding of databases and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Knowledge of SAP (BW, HANA, SAC) and analytics front-end tools is beneficial.
• Ability to align data engineering with business strategy, architecture, governance, security, compliance and operational needs.
• Experience using AI coding assistants or AI-enabled data platform tools in a professional setting.
• Familiarity with data science and data lake platforms on hyperscalers such as Azure or AWS.
• Enthusiasm for both engineering work and implementing business requirements.

Conditions

The collective agreement sets a minimum salary of EUR 2,362 gross per month for this position, which the company must disclose by law. The compensation package is market-oriented and well above that minimum.
