Description

The company is a consulting firm that blends cybersecurity, technology and compliance knowledge to make digital systems safer.

This is a paid, hands-on winter internship in the Systems and Organizations Controls (SOC) practice area, with an anticipated run from January 25 to April 2.

The program builds the technical and professional skills needed to move into a full-time Information Security Associate role. Successful completion may lead to a full-time offer.

As a Developing Consultant, you join the client-facing consulting team and help deliver projects in your chosen practice area, which may include Enterprise Risk, Compliance, Solutions Implementation or Threat Research.

You are expected to keep growing your skills through self-directed study and by taking part in the wider information security industry.

  • Work inside client organizations as a supporting team member, helping keep security and compliance programs running.
  • Build the technical and business know-how needed to do billable project work as early as possible.
  • Learn which industry certifications exist and what each one offers.
  • Study national and international standards and frameworks such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA and ISO 27001.
  • Watch enterprise security solutions being implemented.
  • Take part in both internal and external pen tests, plus social engineering projects.
  • Gather requirements, then draft technical execution plans that meet business needs.
  • Carry out plans that others have designed.
  • Write up execution procedures and explain the technologies involved.
  • Support consultants on client engagements.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of networking, including firewalls, routers, switches and DNS.
  • Basic hands-on experience with computer troubleshooting and server administration.
  • Basic grasp of business planning and accounting.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (a plus).
  • Strong multitasking and time management.
  • Friendly, energetic people skills.
  • Clear writing for both general and technical documentation.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Self-driven, and happy to experiment and learn on your own.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year university or military equivalent, or current enrollment in one.
  • IT, cybersecurity or information security certifications (a plus).
