Description

The company makes the company, a Postgres development platform built by developers for developers. It offers a full backend: database, auth, storage, edge functions, realtime, and vector search, with all services tightly integrated.

You will help grow the company adoption with customers ranging from early-stage startups preparing a first launch to established brands running at large scale. The role covers the whole customer journey for the company's most valuable users, and you will act as a trusted advisor who works as an extension of their team and advocates for them inside the company.

The role is for the company Team and Enterprise customers. Your focus areas are discovery, proof-of-value onboarding, and ongoing customer success.

The company is about 400 people in more than 60 countries, speaks over 20 languages, has raised over $1B (including a $500M Series F), and has a community of 540,000+ members. It is born-remote and open-source-first and moves quickly, building in public and using its own products.

Preferred experience is listed separately below.

Responsibilities

  • Find out the business and technical goals, set realistic expectations for the platform, and agree on success criteria so customers get the guidance they need.
  • Build and present platform demos to high-value customers, using clear storytelling to show the value of the platform and the Success team.
  • Work with Growth team members to size deals, estimate expected usage, and spot workloads the platform can support.
  • Work with customers to define the technical scope of a proof-of-value that shows its worth while keeping adoption risk low.
  • Set proof-of-value timelines, business outcomes, and success criteria so the customer is comfortable moving forward afterward.
  • Guide new customers through onboarding using emails, docs, guides, and webinars to help them deploy and grow quickly.
  • Understand both short-term goals like onboarding and adoption and long-term opportunities like optimization and new workloads, and build account plans for high-value customers.
  • Run synchronous and asynchronous engagements, including architecture reviews, database design and performance work, and proactive support so customers can scale with confidence.
  • Act as an internal champion for customers and the platform. Share platform feedback with Support, Product, and Engineering, and pass roadmap updates on to customers.
  • Build trust through regular contact, since you will often work with production data stores at startups and large enterprises alike.

Requirements

  • Preferred: 6+ years of relevant experience in solutions architecture, database engineering, or a similar field.
  • Preferred: strong knowledge of relational database systems such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Preferred: web application development experience, including Python, C, popular JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Svelte), and Node.js.
  • Preferred: very strong communication skills, especially for explaining technical concepts and turning business needs into technical outcomes and the reverse.
  • Preferred: an organized storyteller with good interpersonal skills who can handle multiple stakeholders with conflicting views and mediate between them.
  • Preferred: experience with project management, business analysis, or revenue operations tools. The company uses HubSpot and BigQuery, among others, and familiarity with these will help.
  • Preferred: previous experience leading customer-facing engagements that deliver real technical and business value.
