Description

The company is a global provider of thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency and decarbonization.

Its work helps customers use less energy and cut carbon emissions in data centers, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing and higher education.

The company has more than 140 years of history and combines advanced technology, lifecycle services and a large field organization.

Responsibilities

  • As the on-site project leader, you plan, run and close out control systems projects for assigned customers, working under general direction.
  • You perform or delegate hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and closeout.
  • You own the financial results of your projects, including costs, billings and collections, while balancing customer satisfaction against margin.
  • You pursue change orders, keep the customer informed through every phase, and make sure warranty work is carried out properly, including sending the warranty letter at substantial completion.
  • You direct subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers and administrative staff, and make sure all work meets federal, state and local legal requirements.
  • You design installation hardware and program software to established standards, and explain the design and operation to customers, staff and subcontractors.
  • You assess the contract scope and the effect of client bulletins, field directives and schedule changes, and raise both technical and business issues with clients.
  • You manage material selection, ordering, budget and delivery schedule, and get pricing and availability from vendors and subcontractors, requesting multiple bids where needed.
  • You coordinate the jobsite for panel and device locations, load, verify and commission system controllers, confirm full system function, and deliver accurate as-built and commissioning records.
  • You bill clients accurately and on time, keep projects profitable with healthy cash flow, and schedule monthly costs in the cost accounting system so spending stays on plan.
  • You coach and support technicians, electrical installers and designers, check that delegated work is accurate, on time, billed, in budget and within scope, and report status, plus monthly revenue, cost and gross margin forecasts, to management.
  • You train owners and operators on the full system, in whole or with help, confirm training is complete, and provide documentation and manuals.
  • You build lasting relationships with contractors, clients, consultants and subcontractors, attend job progress meetings, and hold a high standard for the safety of employees and subcontractors.

Requirements

  • Required: a technical Associates Degree with two years of field experience, or four years of equivalent related field experience in HVAC.
  • Required: hands-on experience designing and commissioning digital HVAC controls systems.
  • Required: the ability to explain technical material to people without a technical background.
  • Required: the ability to work independently.
  • Preferred: strong computer skills.
  • Preferred: knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.
  • Preferred: knowledge of project accounting, costing principles and contracting.

Conditions

The salary range is $92,000 to $125,000, set by your education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, internal equity and market data.

The range is the target pay for the role. If your background goes beyond the typical profile, you are encouraged to apply anyway.

The company may use technology-assisted tools, including artificial intelligence, to help identify and evaluate candidates, but human reviewers make all final hiring decisions.
