Control Systems Support Engineer

Responsibilities

• Give second level technical support to the maintenance team when needed.
• Take part in the after-hours on-call support roster.
• Carry out all design and execution work in line with OHS&E standards.
• Help prepare budget costings and quotes.
• Write functional specifications.
• Run routine system diagnostics and analysis, and report the results to customers.
• Write PLC programs and configure SCADA and PLC-linked equipment, including HMIs, scanners, roller drive cards and VSDs.
• Flag equipment that does not perform to design specifications.
• Test and commission systems on site.
• Write test plans and operator and technical manuals.
• Train client staff and provide customer support.
• Carry out controls upgrades and continuous improvement work across customer sites.
• Support interstate or some overseas projects when required.

Requirements

• A degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or an electrical trade with tertiary qualifications.
• An electrical trades licence, which is highly regarded.
• Knowledge of configuring, programming and commissioning PLCs, with Siemens S7 preferred and variable.
• Knowledge of SCADA applications such as ICONICS, CITEC and WINCC.
• Knowledge of materials handling controls such as conveyors and sortation, which is highly desirable.
• The ability to work without supervision and to guide teams and projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel interstate, to regional areas and overseas.

Conditions

Monday to Friday hours.

On-call roster of approximately 10 weeks per year.

Based in Notting Hill, Melbourne.
