Control Application Engineer - Power Conversion

Description

The company is expanding its ES Regional Office in Madrid, Spain, within the Grid & Power Quality Solutions business in Europe.

You will help design and build control and protection systems for the company's power conversion products and applications.

The Power Converter Solutions competence center develops, manufactures, installs and commissions high-power electronic converters, mainly for STATCOM and rail power supply systems, and also supplies solutions for hydro pump stations and grid interties. Its converters help bring renewable energy into the electrical grid and raise overall system efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Write and program control and protection software for power converter systems.
• Set technical requirements and work with suppliers and internal teams on them.
• Test and validate control systems through simulation, in real-time environments and on hardware.
• Support commissioning and train customers, both remotely and on site.
• Keep software and documentation for control and protection systems up to date.
• Take part in technical discussions during concept and tender phases.
• Travel for commissioning work worldwide, for at least 15% of your working time.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Up to 3 years of experience in control systems, power electronics or a similar area.
• Familiarity with Matlab Simulink, HiDraw or Compact Control Builder.
• Willingness to travel. Commissioning and on-site work in an electrical environment is highly valued.
• Fluent English. Other European languages are an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills, a proactive approach and good teamwork.
