Description

The company is hiring a Computer Vision and Robotics AI Software Engineer for its AI software group in Valbonne, France.

You will help design, build and demonstrate AI-based vision systems for robots. The work turns camera, depth and other sensor streams into information a robot can act on, covering detection, segmentation, tracking, localization, scene understanding and autonomous navigation.

You will work with a mixed team of AI, embedded software, robotics and hardware engineers to turn new vision and deep learning methods into working prototypes on real robots. A main focus is optimizing and deploying AI workloads on the company's MPU-based platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain end-to-end computer vision and AI perception pipelines for robotics.
  • Prototype and demonstrate perception features on real robots using camera, depth and other sensors.
  • Add detection, segmentation, tracking, localization, scene understanding and autonomous navigation to robotic systems.
  • Study and adapt current vision and deep learning models, including CNNs, Vision Transformers and newer vision architectures.
  • Fit AI models and perception components into embedded robot software.
  • Optimize and deploy vision workloads on the company's MPU-based platforms, balancing accuracy, latency, power, memory and compute limits.
  • Run experiments, benchmarks, performance analysis and field tests on real robots.
  • Refine algorithms and architectures based on experiment results and what you observe in the field.
  • Build proofs of concept that show whether emerging AI and vision technologies are feasible and useful for robotics.
  • Take part in architecture discussions, code reviews, technical reviews and design decisions.
  • Work with AI, embedded software, robotics and hardware teams to deliver robust, scalable and maintainable solutions.
  • Write up architectures, integration approaches, experiment results and performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, computer vision or a related technical field.
  • Solid knowledge of deep neural networks for vision, especially CNNs, Vision Transformers and modern object detection, segmentation and tracking architectures.
  • Experience building computer vision or AI perception pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++.
  • Solid software engineering basics: software architecture, debugging, testing and Git version control.
  • Comfortable working in Linux development environments.
  • Able to evaluate AI models and integrate them into larger software systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communicator who works well in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Academic, professional or project experience in robotics perception and autonomous robotic systems.
  • Academic, professional or project experience with camera-based and depth-based perception.
  • Academic, professional or project experience with object detection, instance or semantic segmentation, tracking, localization or scene understanding.
  • Academic, professional or project experience with sensor fusion and multi-sensor perception.
  • Academic, professional or project experience deploying and optimizing deep learning models on embedded or edge platforms.
  • Academic, professional or project experience with model optimization such as quantization and fine-tuning.
  • Academic, professional or project experience with embedded Linux, robotics middleware such as ROS and ROS 2, and OpenCV and GStreamer.
  • Academic, professional or project experience with AI inference frameworks and runtimes used for edge deployment.
  • Academic, professional or project experience profiling and optimizing AI workloads under latency, memory, compute and power constraints.
  • Academic, professional or project experience prototyping and validating vision algorithms on real robots.
  • Research, internship, thesis or professional experience in computer vision, robotics, embedded AI or edge AI.
