Description

The Space Sector of the company in Commerce, CA is adding a CNC Programmer 3 to its growing team.

The role turns detailed 3D engineering designs into numerical code (G-code and M-code) that runs multi-axis machining centers, using CAD/CAM software.

Aerospace parts here are made from exotic materials such as titanium, Inconel and aluminum alloys, often held to tolerances within ±0.001 inch.

The role requires no travel and no relocation assistance. No security clearance is needed to start, and no clearance type applies.

Responsibilities

  • Write toolpaths in Mastercam, CATIA or Siemens NX for 3-, 4- and 5-axis milling and mill-turn machines.
  • Build complete NC programs for complex 3-, 4- and 5-axis mills, lathes and mill-turns in CATIA V5/V6.
  • Review 3D CAD models and blueprints to choose machining sequences and work-holding methods.
  • Design custom fixtures and jigs in CAD that hold aerospace parts securely during machining.
  • Run machine simulations in VeriCut or Completed to confirm toolpaths are error-free before production.
  • Refine programs to cut cycle times, extend tool life and keep quality consistent on high-value parts such as landing gear and turbine blades.
  • Research tools and methods that shorten cycle times, improve part quality and keep manufacturing cost-effective.
  • Prepare setup sheets and tool lists that guide machinists through production.
  • On the shop floor, troubleshoot programs during setup, run prove-outs and mentor machine operators.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, plus 4+ years developing CNC programs for multi-axis machines in aerospace.
  • Deep knowledge of CAD tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and CAM tools such as Mastercam and Gibbs CAM.
  • Expert ability to read complex technical drawings and GD&T symbols.
  • Solid grasp of trigonometry and geometry for calculating complex cutting paths and angles.
  • Deep understanding of G-code, M-code and post-processing, with expertise in machining titanium, Inconel and aluminum alloys.
  • Preferred qualifications: familiarity with AS9100 standards and export control rules (ITAR/EAR).
  • Preferred qualifications: an associate's degree in a mechanical or machining field, or 6 years of machining and programming experience.

Conditions

Based in Commerce, CA, working a 9/80 schedule.

Primary level base salary range is $66,600.00 to $111,000.00, a general guideline. Final base pay depends on the scope and responsibilities of the role, your experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
