Cloud Security Engineer Senior

Description

The team sits within a technology company that is part of a global firm and works for the US federal government, serving defense, national security, public safety, civilian and military health organizations. The company has more than 13,000+ people.

The role covers security engineering and sustainment for the agency's cloud, hybrid-cloud and on-premise environments, keeping coverage and performance strong while meeting federal security standards and industry practice.

You would also act as the team's cloud security subject matter expert, supporting audits, change and configuration management, and training that keeps the security posture current.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and run secure, resilient, cost-effective cloud, hybrid-cloud and on-premise applications and systems, and review and approve architecture designs before they are implemented.
• Build, deploy and maintain secure baselines for every cloud and on-premise system so they meet federal mandates and internal policy.
• Write and update SOPs, policies, architecture diagrams, code documentation, security baselines and system controls records.
• Collect and aggregate logs for monitoring, analysis and compliance, and keep tuning logging to reduce noise and improve performance.
• Build and maintain continuous monitoring of availability, performance, security, reporting and response.
• Track cloud spending, recommend cost-optimization steps to leadership, and run and secure the hybrid-cloud monitoring tool suite.
• Research new security solutions so the environment does not become obsolete, and report cybersecurity incidents as federal regulation requires.
• Support audits of applications, systems and services.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on current cloud security and deliver training and knowledge transfer.
• Handle access requests, change-impact analysis and root-cause analysis for the hybrid-cloud environment, and maintain the ticketing and service desk system.

Requirements

• Seven years of experience in system administration, database administration, network engineering, software engineering or development with a cybersecurity focus, or five years of that experience alongside a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, cybersecurity or a related field.
• Hold AWS Certified Security, Specialty.
• Hold AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
• Hold AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Associate.
• Hold AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Professional if you have SecDevOps responsibilities.
• Hold AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Specialty if you have network security responsibilities.

Conditions

The base pay range for this role in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and the District of Columbia is $101,700 - $204,400 USD.

Actual pay varies with office location, role, skill set and experience.
