Cloud Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and run a sturdy cloud architecture for development teams, working in an agile team.
• Help make design choices, including researching and prototyping new technology.
• Work closely with AWS engineers and architects, other cloud engineers, support staff, and other stakeholders.
• Raise the quality of Kubernetes and AWS platform design.
• Propose new ideas to improve applications and processes.
• Keep reviewing systems, products, and processes to find ways to improve them.
• Talk with development teams to find their pain points and where changes would help.
• Teach business stakeholders and product teams how to use cloud tools and services correctly.

Requirements

• Required: hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, VPCs, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudFront.
• Required: experience with Kubernetes or managed Kubernetes.
• Required: experience with the AWS Console, CLI, and SDK.
• Required: experience with Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Required: experience moving software applications to AWS.
• Required: familiarity with Traefik, gloo, or Ambassador, and general networking concepts.
• Required: proficiency in at least one language such as Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, Golang, or Python.
• Required: proficiency with AI-based development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
• Required: a broad set of DevSecOps skills.
• Required: knowledge of security and performance practices for cloud architectures.
• Required: operational experience, and readiness to own the uptime and quality of systems.
• Required: experience building and maintaining disaster recovery architectures.
• Required: a habit of documenting work and teaching others.
• Required: hands-on experience building self-service cloud platforms and architecture.
• Required: advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Required: a strong belief in automating everything.
• Required: experience working in an Agile environment using Scrum or Kanban.
• Preferred: familiarity with Istio-based service mesh.
• Preferred: familiarity with AI-based autoscaling such as cast.ai or Karpenter.
• Preferred: familiarity with running agentic platforms such as agentregistry, agentgateway, and kagent, or equivalents.
• Preferred: familiarity with AIOps for Kubernetes clusters.
• Preferred: familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Preferred: cloud development experience with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, SNS, and ECS.
• Preferred: experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines with a tool such as Jenkins or GitLab. Envoy experience is a plus.

Conditions

Pay depends on location, local market conditions, skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The company aims for pay that is competitive and fair against local market rates.

Base salary may be supplemented by incentive pay, long-term incentives, and a full benefits package, where applicable.
