Description

The company is a digital services provider owned entirely by the company. It builds one integrated offer that connects planning and operations control, flight, technical and ground operations, with interoperable digital tools that turn operational complexity into more predictable, profitable and sustainable results.

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will keep the company's solutions running smoothly and reliably. You will apply your platform knowledge, help build automation, and take a central part in spotting and resolving failures. The role covers defining, building and running cloud infrastructure and driving ongoing improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and run secure, scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  • Work with the Software Factory's Solution Architects to move solutions from development into support, build out the hosting network, represent the Hosting Group in the Agile teams called Trains, and lead hosting-related architecture decisions.
  • Keep systems reliable through platform knowledge, proactive monitoring and quick fixes when problems occur.
  • Build automation, including Infrastructure as Code and configuration management, to simplify operations.
  • Track hosting costs, report on them, and define and follow cost-saving actions with stakeholders.
  • Help decide what to build in-house and what to buy, and move recurring tasks to contractors where that makes sense.
  • Apply cloud operations best practices, keep security compliance in place and prevent cost overruns.
  • Monitor new technologies, manage the Hosting Tech Radar, assess new AWS services, and test emerging tools for future Skywise innovations.
  • Join root cause investigations and implement lasting fixes for complex issues.
  • Build a resilient, highly scalable platform for global application development, with a focus on continuous delivery and operational insight.
  • Advise on moving existing legacy applications onto the company's modern deployment platforms.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience designing and building secure public cloud solutions, preferably on AWS.
  • Proven experience scripting and automating infrastructure to cut manual work, using tools such as Terraform, Ansible and Jenkins.
  • At least one public cloud associate certification is required. Additional certifications are a significant asset, for example AWS Solutions Architect Associate or similar.
  • A thorough understanding of networking principles for enterprise environments.
  • A track record of finding root causes and recommending effective, long-term fixes.
  • Proven ability to carry out complex troubleshooting in public cloud environments and advise other teams.
  • A proactive, confident self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills who works well across teams.
  • An asset: working knowledge of networking, shell scripting, databases, DNS and XML.
  • Experience managing internal and external stakeholders, and explaining technical topics to both audiences.
  • Tools you will use: various AWS services and environments; Linux and Microsoft Windows; Red Hat systems, including kernel, modules and dependencies; and Windows administration, covering domain administration, patch management, IIS and Group Policies.
