The company designs, manufactures and assembles advanced systems for demanding industries through an integrated engineering and manufacturing platform. It is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs and supports leading U.S. aerospace and defense companies.
The Design and Engineering Systems group is hiring a Principal Software Architect to lead the design of high-performance, interactive 3D desktop and web-based computer-aided engineering applications.
This is a senior technical expert role in desktop application architecture. You will set up application frameworks, create technical methods, and deliver solutions across the engineering software suite that improve development speed, performance, and quality. You will work through technical leadership and collaboration to solve hard architecture problems, build reusable engineering practices, and guide teams building scalable applications for computational design.
Responsibilities
Lead the architecture and design of interactive 3D desktop and web-based CAE applications spanning several engineering programs or technical disciplines.
Create application frameworks, design patterns and architecture methods that make development more efficient, scalable, maintainable and reusable.
Build and own key parts of GPU-enabled job execution and scheduling for heavy engineering workloads.
Find creative solutions to hard problems in application architecture, graphics rendering, UI design, performance and software integration.
Set technical direction for 3D visualization, responsiveness, resource use and reliable execution of engineering workflows.
Create architecture frameworks and practices that lower technical risk and keep application ownership from splintering.
Lead cross-functional initiatives that connect application architecture with computational design, CAE solvers and platform capabilities.
Direct engineering teams, delegate implementation and make sure architecture decisions are applied consistently.
Mentor engineers on desktop architecture, 3D application development, software quality and engineering practice.
Work with DES and Platform IPT leadership to align technical solutions with program goals and changing computational design needs.
Anticipate technical challenges and evaluate technologies that improve scalability, usability and long-term maintainability.
Define and track outcomes for application performance, development efficiency, reliability and architectural reuse.
Requirements
You must be able to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls.
You have extensive experience in software architecture and desktop application development.
