Description

The company is hiring a Business Analyst Lead for a team of business and functional consultants who run requirements elicitation and management, known as discovery, on major implementations.

The team designs and oversees the functional solution for large client projects and contributes to solution design. It works with other teams and the client, advises on best practice, and keeps governance in place through the requirements phase.

Team members act as thought leaders, making sure the architecture fits business goals and technical standards.

The role focuses on card migration programmes, where you may co-lead and own end-to-end requirements and solution design, or act as the business subject matter owner for your area of expertise.

As co-lead, you work closely with clients and senior stakeholders to shape best-practice outcomes, keep governance strong, and negotiate toward the solution that suits both the client and the company.

You link business and technology, guiding teams, clearing blockers, and making sure solutions are clearly defined, validated and delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Run and lead requirements elicitation sessions on large, complex client engagements.
  • Act as the business SME, giving product consulting support and teaching clients how system features and functions work when needed.
  • Hold overall accountability for the requirements phase as requirements lead.
  • Recommend best-practice solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the client's future state.
  • Own the development requirements matrix, run feasibility reviews with product and technology teams, and get client sign-off on the agreed development scope.
  • Obtain high-level development approaches and effort estimates for identified gaps from product and technology teams.
  • Manage client expectations through the requirements cycle, covering what the solution can do and advising on how to use it.
  • Lead a team of senior and lead Architects in a matrix management model, assigning, directing and monitoring their work.
  • Give direction on gaps, complex decisions, integrations and proposed solutions to senior and lead Architects.
  • Plan requirements workstream resourcing, mentor Senior Architects, resolve escalations, and reallocate work when needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders at the company and the client, keeping governance and management in place.
  • Help define standards and advise on best practice.
  • Lead discussions that cut unnecessary development while still meeting client requirements.
  • Take part in migration strategy and data mapping, explaining agreed configurations and non-development workarounds.
  • Identify and document migration impacts arising from functional requirements and proposed solutions.
  • Identify, escalate and track project risks with programme and project management.
  • Keep control of the agreed timeline for all discovery deliverables, and coordinate across workstreams by communicating impacts to functional, technical, migration, infrastructure and programme teams.
  • Protect the agreed discovery and change-management processes, avoiding ad-hoc requests that add unmanaged risk or overhead.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in business requirements analysis, gathering, documentation and validation on software projects.
  • Experience in the card payments industry.
  • Experience managing a group of Architects through matrix management.
  • Experience in a client advisory or consultancy role within an IT environment.
  • Degree-level education in Computer Science, MIS or a business-related field.
  • Working knowledge of productivity tools such as MS Word or Google Docs, MS Excel or Google Sheets, MS PowerPoint or Google Slides, and MS Visio or Lucid Charts.
  • Clear, concise communication with both business and IT partners to define, understand and assess business requirements.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
  • Willingness to travel to client premises.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Bonus: understanding of data structures.
  • Bonus: previous experience with the company PRIME card management systems or similar card management systems.
  • Bonus: experience on large-scale projects, such as a portfolio conversion or product launch.
  • Bonus: professional experience working with end users to meet business needs.
  • Bonus: professional experience showing transferable business analysis skills.
  • Bonus: working towards or holding a business analysis professional qualification, such as IIBA or BCS.
  • Bonus: experience using common AI tools.
