Brand Designer

Description

The company builds financial software for software businesses, covering contracts, billing, invoicing, payments and bookkeeping so founders can focus on their product.

Many of the software companies it sells to rely on QuickBooks, Stripe, spreadsheets and ad hoc agent workflows that barely hold together. Instead of patching that with AI, the team rebuilt contracts, accounting, billing, invoicing and payments from scratch, then added agents for routine work in between. The company stands behind the accuracy of its numbers because it owns every system that touches them.

The company recently raised $10M from investors including Khosla Ventures and Tobi Lütke. The product launches soon, and the team has seven people. This is the second design hire, and you will work with the first designer and report directly to the founder.

Responsibilities

• Shape the company's visual identity, including typography, imagery, motion, art direction and the details that make the brand recognizable.
• Design the website, launches, campaigns, social content and other material that introduces the company to people.
• Bring the brand into the product, working with the designer and engineers so every interaction feels distinctly like the company.
• Explore tools such as Cursor and Claude Code to prototype ideas and build designs. Engineering skills are not required, but you should be curious about what you can build.
• Get work in front of real customers within days or hours of starting it.

Requirements

• Recognize strong design, explain why it works, and show a portfolio that proves you can produce it.
• Have an exceptional eye for typography, composition, color and the small details that make work memorable.
• Have created brand, web, marketing or product work you are proud to show.
• Turn an unclear idea into something compelling without waiting for detailed instructions.
• Understand how design carries over to the web and care how your work looks, feels and functions once live.
• Be interested in AI-powered creative tools and what they mean for designers, whether you already use them or are just starting.
• Prefer putting something strong into the world, learning from it and improving it over spending weeks on hypotheticals.
• Have very little patience for hype or empty talk.

Conditions

Salary of $300K to $350K.

Work in person at the San Francisco office six days a week.

Hours are flexible.
