Azure Platform Engineer for APS

You will help build and evolve platform capabilities used by hundreds of engineering teams. The role is hands-on, bringing together architecture, automation, operations and product thinking.

Responsibilities

• Build self-service Azure capabilities for internal DevOps teams, turning their needs and the security and compliance rules that apply to them into solutions that are simple to adopt and run.
• Design, develop, operate and keep improving Azure platform products, focusing on managed services, reusable automation, secure defaults and integrations.
• Create reusable platform products such as automation workflows, templates, APIs and integration patterns.
• Make Azure services easier, safer and quicker for consuming teams to use.
• Build security, compliance, policy, identity, networking and governance controls into the platform itself.
• Run platform services with attention to reliability, observability, supportability and ongoing improvement.
• Work with consuming DevOps teams to find adoption barriers, gather feedback and improve the platform products.
• Coordinate with other Azure platform teams to deliver consistent, enterprise-scale cloud capabilities.
• Modernize platform engineering practice by championing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD and strong automation.

• Have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure platform services and cloud-native patterns.
• Have experience with managed Azure services, platform automation and reusable service patterns.
• Have a deep understanding of Azure networking, private connectivity, identity, RBAC, Managed Identities and security controls.
• Have experience implementing Azure Policy, governance, compliance and secure-by-default platform design.
• Be proficient in IaC using Terraform, Bicep and/or ARM.
• Have hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
• Have strong scripting or programming skills, for example in PowerShell, Python, C or Go.
• Preferred: knowledge of Azure Landing Zones and enterprise-scale cloud platform principles.
• Preferred: experience building APIs, automation workflows, templates or platform integration patterns.
• Preferred: a proven background in operating business-critical cloud platform services, including monitoring, troubleshooting and runbooks.
• Preferred: understanding of cloud cost optimization and the efficient use of Azure services.
