Description

The company is hiring an experienced AWS DevOps engineer to run its cloud infrastructure from start to finish, covering application deployments, CI/CD pipelines, security, monitoring and day-to-day production work.

You will work alongside application developers and AI/ML engineers to deliver applications that are safe, dependable, able to grow, and economical to run.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage AWS infrastructure using EC2, S3, RDS PostgreSQL, IAM, VPC, security groups, ECR, CloudWatch and SSM.
  • Write infrastructure as code with Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation.
  • Set up CI/CD with GitHub Actions, covering automated builds, tests, security scans, deployments and rollbacks.
  • Package applications in Docker containers and manage the images.
  • Look after PostgreSQL and pgvector, including migrations, backups and disaster recovery.
  • Apply least-privilege IAM and encryption, manage secrets with Secrets Manager and SSM Parameter Store, and run vulnerability scans.
  • Monitor systems with CloudWatch logs, metrics, dashboards and alerts, and lead incident response and root-cause analysis.
  • Set up load balancing, autoscaling and high availability, and tune performance.
  • Track AWS costs, right-size resources, plan recovery and keep operational documentation current.
  • Deploy and maintain frontend apps, Python/FastAPI APIs and AI/LLM-powered services.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, IT, engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on DevOps or cloud engineering work.
  • Proven ability to handle AWS environments from start to finish.
  • Working knowledge of GitHub Actions or a similar CI/CD tool, plus Docker and Amazon ECR.
  • Hands-on use of EC2, S3, RDS PostgreSQL, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch and AWS Systems Manager.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform.
  • Solid skills in Linux administration, shell scripting, networking, DNS and TLS/SSL.
  • Experience running database operations, backups, security, monitoring and production troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Python, REST APIs and deploying containerized applications.
  • Understanding of cloud security, vulnerability management, high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Preferred: experience supporting AI/ML, generative AI, LLM or data-heavy applications.
  • Preferred: familiarity with AWS Bedrock, SQS, Lambda and ECS/Fargate.
  • Preferred: knowledge of PostgreSQL, pgvector and asynchronous processing.
  • Preferred: experience with OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing and application performance monitoring.
  • Preferred: an AWS certification such as AWS Solutions Architect or AWS DevOps Engineer.

Employment type is full-time / contract.

This is a contract engagement for an independent contractor, not an employee role, and no employee benefits are included.

  • Units vest once agreed project deliverables are completed.
