The Enterprise Operations & Technology group builds the systems behind the bank's security, global resource management, employee tools, digital architecture and customer platforms, with an emphasis on secure, reliable and efficient services.

This is a Senior Software Engineer, Java Microservices role on the Applications Development track. You will build distributed microservices that run critical financial systems, taking ownership of complex technical problems, mentoring other engineers and helping shape how the company's technology platforms meet global business needs.

This is a full-time position, and an existing vacancy.

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed microservices in Java, Spring Boot and Kotlin for scalable application systems.
• Use Site Reliability Engineering principles and OpenTelemetry-based observability to improve how services are developed, deployed and monitored.
• Store and manage application data in MongoDB so backend services stay fast and dependable.
• Lead feasibility studies, cost estimates and technical planning for new and changed application systems.
• Compare complex business and system processes with industry standards and propose practical, scalable fixes.
• Work with business users and technology teams to turn requirements into working software.
• Add security controls after deployment to protect the system design and keep data accurate.
• Act as a subject matter expert on your own, mentoring junior engineers and advising senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of experience in software development, systems analysis or applications programming.
• Hands-on experience building backend systems with Java, Spring Boot and Kotlin.
• Working knowledge of MongoDB and distributed microservices architecture.
• Experience applying modern engineering and DevOps practices, including Site Reliability Engineering principles and OpenTelemetry for observability.
• Experience delivering technology projects from concept through implementation.
• Ability to juggle competing deadlines and change priorities quickly in a busy environment.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Nice to have: working knowledge of Python for scripting, automation or tooling in engineering workflows.

Conditions

Hybrid schedule: three days in the office and two days remote.

Full-time contract.

Primary location salary range: $94,300.00 - $141,500.00.
