Description

The company is a world-leading provider of market infrastructure, with 5,300 staff across more than 60 offices in 27 countries.

It is the largest interdealer broker by revenue and the number one Energy & Commodities broker worldwide, and it is the leading provider of OTC data. Its all-to-all trading platform has won awards.

The Global Analytics team builds and maintains the Price Discovery platform that broking desks worldwide use to generate, calculate and distribute market data to clients. The team covers Fixed Income, Interest Rate Derivatives, FX Derivatives, Energy and Commodities.

Most daily work happens in an in-house, Excel-like application built on C++ and C libraries, where broking screens are written and maintained.

As a junior team member, you will be guided by experienced colleagues who will help you learn the financial domain and the platform.

This is an engineering role, not a research or quant modelling one, so you will learn the finance as you go.

Tasks often arrive with a detailed specification, but you will frequently need to work out the approach yourself.

The team needs people who look for problems to solve rather than wait for instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Build, extend and maintain broking screens across several asset classes.
  • Look after existing systems and data pipelines, resolve production issues and spot where things can be improved.
  • Learn how markets work from the screens, the broking desks and colleagues.
  • Drive your projects to completion with high-quality results.
  • Help move analytics out of screen cells into reusable library functions, and document the pricing logic.
  • Help build micro-services that turn business requirements into deployable components.
  • Help improve how screens are developed and deployed.
  • Help improve search and data retrieval to support data sales.
  • Use AI tools and modern development workflows to speed up your own work and the team's output.

Requirements

  • A degree in computer science, engineering or physics.
  • Demonstrable programming ability in at least one of C++, C or Python.
  • A builder's mindset: you would rather ship something and iterate than wait for a perfect specification.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to ask questions to keep things moving.
  • A self-starter who takes on everything from quick fixes to larger projects.
  • Genuine curiosity about how things work, in the markets and in the codebase.
  • Willing to adopt new technologies, including AI-powered tooling.
  • Clear, direct communication.
  • Desired: some prior exposure to financial markets, though this is not required.

Conditions

Hybrid working.

Based at 135 Bishopsgate, London, UK.

Job band and level: Professional, level 4.

The company welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, and candidates who meet most but not every criterion are encouraged to apply.
