Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning Engineer

The role sits in the artificial intelligence and machine learning team, which includes solution architects, data scientists and machine learning engineers. The team identifies, explores and builds solutions aimed at revenue growth and operational savings, and you will help turn emerging technologies into practical tools.

This is a lead role based in the Jacksonville, FL office, with hybrid work requiring 3 days onsite. Sponsorship, current or future, is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Design and build generative AI applications using both proprietary and open-weight large language models.
• Create agent-based systems and workflows that handle planning, memory, tool use, orchestration, human oversight and autonomous tasks.
• Connect AI solutions to enterprise platforms, application programming interfaces and business workflows.
• Build and deploy representational state transfer services with Flask or FastAPI.
• Assess model, agent and system performance for accuracy, reliability, grounding and safety.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional experience overall, including a minimum of 4 years in AI, generative AI or agent-based AI.
• Experience designing and building GenAI applications with LLMs, both open and proprietary.
• Experience building agent-based systems with planning, memory, tool use and orchestration.
• Experience implementing agentic workflows, including multi-agent setups, human-in-the-loop designs and autonomous tasks.
• Hands-on work with large language models, including prompting, structured outputs, model routing, context and memory management, and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Strong Python skills and experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras or pandas.
• Experience with vector databases, retrieval systems, cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure), and services built with Flask or FastAPI.
• A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education, training and work experience.
• Nice to have: experience fine-tuning large language models with parameter-efficient methods such as low-rank adaptation and quantized low-rank adaptation.
• Nice to have: familiarity with orchestration tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen or the OpenAI Assistants application programming interface.
• Nice to have: knowledge of production machine learning operations, continuous integration and delivery, monitoring, observability, security, compliance and data governance.

Conditions
