Description

The company is looking for a motivated senior software engineer for its Finance Engine Hedge Fund Billing technology team. This role is at Assistant Vice President level within the Technology job family group, Applications Development.

You will help design, build and improve billing and calculation engines that handle high volumes and serve institutional hedge fund clients worldwide. The Hedge Fund Billing platform is critical to the business. It manages complicated fee structures and large transaction volumes across several business lines.

You will partner with product managers, business analysts and technical leads to ship scalable, resilient, cloud-ready full-stack features built with Java, Angular and MSSQL.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain full-stack applications, covering Java microservices and Angular front ends, from design through testing, deployment and upkeep.
  • Structure services so they are modular, extensible and able to run heavy calculations.
  • Create clear, responsive Angular interfaces and operational dashboards, paying attention to user experience, state handling and speed.
  • Write clean, documented, testable code that follows the company's engineering standards and design patterns.
  • Design relational schemas, complex SQL, stored procedures, indexes and views that process financial data quickly.
  • Tune backend queries and APIs so data loads fast and large billing runs finish reliably.
  • Protect data integrity, keep transactions consistent under ACID rules, and make every financial accounting workflow auditable.
  • Own work from requirements and technical design through coding, automated testing, release and post-release support.
  • Run Agile/Scrum delivery with cross-functional teams in sprint planning, backlog grooming and demos.
  • Practise test-driven development and automated testing at unit, integration and end-to-end levels using JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine/Karma and Cypress.
  • Connect automated builds, static analysis (SonarQube), vulnerability scans and automated deployments to enterprise CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, Bitbucket and Harness, or similar tools.
  • Contribute to modernization work, including containerization with Docker and OpenShift/Kubernetes and cloud-ready architecture changes.
  • Work with Level 3 Application Support and DevOps teams to find and fix production issues, run root-cause analyses and put preventive fixes in place.
  • Add monitoring, alerting, health checks and structured logging using Prometheus, Grafana and Splunk or ELK to keep the system highly available.

Requirements

  • Five to 8 years of professional hands-on software development experience on enterprise-scale distributed systems.
  • Deep knowledge of Core Java, JVM internals, concurrency, multi-threading, Spring Framework, Spring Boot and RESTful API design.
  • Strong skill in modern Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, responsive UI design and single-page application architecture.
  • Extensive work with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL or Sybase, including complex query tuning, schema design and transaction management.
  • Practical experience with microservices, REST/JSON APIs and message brokers or event streaming such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ or JMS.
  • Solid grounding in unit testing and mocking with JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine, Karma or Jest.
  • Working familiarity with Git/Bitbucket, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Docker and standard deployment automation tools.
  • Nice to have: prior domain knowledge in hedge fund operations, fund administration, institutional billing, asset management or capital markets.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with cloud platforms, specifically Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Nice to have: experience with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA and batch processing with Spring Batch.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
