Description

The company is a city agency that administers New York City's tax revenue laws with fairness, efficiency, and transparency, while giving customers strong service.

Its technology division builds and supports the agency's computer systems, covering hardware, software, applications, infrastructure, telephones, and data security. It runs tax-related payment programs and the systems behind citywide payments, land records, property assessment, parking tickets, customer service, and the Sheriff's public safety work.

The company is hiring an experienced Appian developer to build reporting, analytics, and dashboards. You will join a dedicated team and help build high-quality software, designing, coding, and testing new applications on low-code platforms. The work happens in a collaborative setting where technical choices support business goals. The role suits someone interested in public sector work and in solving challenges that affect citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Appian dashboards and user interfaces with SAIL, Record Views, and Process HQ, keeping data accurate and easy to read.
  • Develop reports, analytics, data visualizations, process mining, and report objects within the Appian platform.
  • Structure and combine data in Appian's Data Fabric so reports refresh as new cases and data come in.
  • Pull and map data from external enterprise systems into Appian for unified reporting, using APIs and SQL.
  • Write and tune complex SQL queries that move data from relational databases, APIs, and enterprise systems into the user interface.
  • Translate business goals and requirements from business analysts and stakeholders into analytical frameworks and real-time dashboards that improve operations.
  • Monitor Appian performance, troubleshoot issues, report response times, and recommend changes to logic, data structures, or indexes to prevent bottlenecks and protect data integrity.
  • Design and deploy complex, integrated web and mobile applications using process models, record actions, rules, expressions, custom SAIL interfaces, plug-ins, and other built-in tools.
  • Help shape the architecture of complex low-code applications so they are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with the company's goals.
  • Test and debug applications for cross-browser compatibility, responsiveness, and performance.
  • Review other developers' applications and give practical feedback on quality, design, and implementation to meet high standards of performance and reliability.
  • Support a culture of learning and growth within the team.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in the required areas of the role.
  • Equivalent education and experience may be accepted in place of the degree and experience above.

Conditions

You will report to the Director of Parking & Collections.
