Description

The space systems group of the company is hiring an AI Software Engineer at Level 2 in Morrisville, North Carolina, in the Research Triangle area.

You would join a small agile Scrum team that is energized and works on a large software effort for a growing program with major impact.

The role suits a flexible self-starter who wants real-world technical work across several tools and systems, with room to move into leadership over time.

Responsibilities

  • Build software on an agile team that uses current development practices.
  • Apply AI and machine learning methods to the program's software effort.
  • Work across the team's tools and systems to deliver real-world technical results.
  • Travel for about 10% of the time.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another STEM field, with 5+ years of experience.
  • Hold a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or a PhD with 1 year of experience.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with a Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly). Approval timing is set by the company based on business needs. No clearance is needed to start, and US citizenship is required.
  • Show practical experience with AI and machine learning methods, including optimization theory (linear programming, convex and non-convex), maximum likelihood estimation and classification, signal processing theory (for example Fourier transforms and cyclostationarity), control theory (for example Kalman filters, feedback loops and optimal control), training approaches (supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning), probabilistic modeling (for example mixture models and Bayesian updates), neural network architectures (for example transformers, state space models, recurrent and convolutional), ML classifiers (for example SVM, kernel tricks, random forests and ensembles), and dimensionality reduction (for example SVD, PCA, VAE and t-SNE).
  • Have a strong background in applied mathematics.
  • Have experience with high-level languages such as Matlab, Python or R.
  • Have experience with version control, git preferred.
  • Preferred: an active TS/SCI clearance. Employment depends on obtaining and keeping this clearance.
  • Preferred: strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Preferred: experience with mission management algorithms, such as the assignment problem and the traveling salesman problem.
  • Preferred: experience with RF processing algorithms, such as ModRec, detection and CAF.
  • Preferred: experience with deployment tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, embedded systems and Linux.
  • Preferred: experience with distributed algorithms.
  • Preferred: GPU programming experience.
  • Preferred: experience with the Proliferated Mission Management (PMM) framework.
  • Preferred: experience with GnuRadio or X-Midas.
